In the 5th award season, VinFuture 2025 continues to carry the spirit of "Strengthening together - Prospering together", the message that has been consistent since the award was launched in 2020. In the context of the world facing many challenges - from climate change, conflict, epidemics to digital transformation - that message becomes an invitation to cooperate, share knowledge, and find solutions to common problems of humanity.

Stature raised from prestige

After only half a decade, VinFuture has become one of the most influential science awards in the world. This year's season recorded more than 1,700 applications from more than 70 countries and territories, nearly 3 times more than the first season. This number reflects the growing prestige of an award that is considered by the scientific community to be "young but not small" = young in age but large in scale, value and vision.

Notably, among the scientists who were honored at VinFuture, 4 groups continued to be named at the Nobel Prize in the following years. This shows that VinFuture is not only a prestigious scientific playground, but is also recognized as the "discoverer" of Nobel-level works - a testament to the accuracy in selection and evaluation of the Prize Council.

Professor Dang Van Chi, a member of the Prize Council, said: “We have chosen the right person. If we win VinFuture, scientists will have a greater chance of being honored at the Nobel Prize.”

Award of Humanistic Aspiration

The VinFuture Main Prize is worth 3 million USD and three Special Prizes (each prize is 500,000 USD) for: Female scientists, scientists from developing countries and research in new fields. This is a deeply humanistic structure of the prize: focusing attention on scientific groups that have made many contributions but are often not recognized properly.

This year, the Award Council member revealed: The winning work is research that has an impact on a very large population scale globally = showing that VinFuture continues to be loyal to the highest criteria: Science must serve humanity, must solve practical problems of life, not stop at academics.

Alongside the star-studded lineup of scientists, this year’s awards ceremony also featured 17-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys. The combination of contemporary music and intellectual spirit demonstrates VinFuture’s innovative approach to bringing science closer to the public.

Science Week: Hanoi becomes “intellectual capital”

More than just an award night, VinFuture is increasingly shaping up to be the biggest science and technology week of the year in Vietnam.

The programs bring together leading scientists in AI, medicine, agriculture, environmental technology, new technology, etc. The stories, perspectives and future predictions shared here not only expand knowledge but also stimulate thinking about the direction of human development in the next decade.

From a Vietnamese perspective, VinFuture Week is a powerful inspiration for the younger generation. Students and young researchers get to hear directly from Nobel-level scientists, get access to groundbreaking works, and most importantly = see their own path in science.

Yesterday afternoon, December 4, the Science and Innovation for a Sustainable Future seminar was held with the participation of Prof. Nguyen Thuc Quyen from the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA) = Chair of the VinFuture Preliminary Council as the chair. Speakers included Dr. Filippo Giorgi - Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (Italy), Member of the VinFuture Prize Preliminary Council; Prof. Martin Andrew Green - University of New South Wales (Australia) and many other speakers. The seminar focused on the issue of Science and Technology opening up new directions - from green materials, clean energy, circular economy to carbon storage and ecosystem restoration - to create a development model that harmonizes growth and conservation. In addition, it will showcase research, technology and policy advances - from emissions reduction, efficient resource management to renewable energy development - while connecting scientists, experts and policymakers, promoting cooperation and creating a green, sustainable future for the planet.
