On the evening of December 5, in Hanoi, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the Vinfuture 2025 Annual Global Science and Technology Award Ceremony with the theme "Rising together, prospering together".
The main prize - Vinfuture Grand Prize worth 3 million USD was awarded to the team of scientists including Dr. Douglas R. Lowy; Dr. John T. Schiller; Dr. Aimée R. Kreimer and Professor Maura L. Gillison for their discovery and development of HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer caused by human papilloma virus.
This discovery opened a new era of immune-based cancer prevention and became a pillar of the World Health Organization's global strategy.
In his congratulatory speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam wishes to work with the world's scientific community to promote cooperation in researching common issues of humanity, promote academic exchanges, train high-quality human resources, cooperate in technology transfer and implement green and inclusive development models; and is ready to accompany countries, organizations and research institutes in the spirit of openness, responsibility and mutual respect.
Reiterating General Secretary To Lam's statement that developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is not only a choice, but a way of survival, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam is committed to building a transparent legal environment, creating favorable conditions for innovation models to be deployed effectively and safely, contributing positively to the development of the region and the world./.
