Let's experience "tapping and cutting" durian together.

(DTO) Dong Thap province currently has the largest durian growing area in the Mekong Delta, with over 34,300 hectares and an annual production of approximately 470,000 tons; nearly 50% of the area has been granted planting area codes for export purposes.

One of the durian orchards in My Phu hamlet, Long Tien commune, is currently being purchased by traders.

Currently, durian growers in Dong Thap province are entering the peak season for harvesting off-season durians. Although durian prices are constantly fluctuating, growers are still making a considerable profit at this time.

Workers tap each durian fruit to determine which ones meet the purchasing requirements for harvesting.

According to many farmers, durian prices have increased compared to the early months of the year. Specifically, Monthong (Thai) durians purchased in bulk at the farm are priced at around 80,000 - 90,000 VND/kg, while Ri 6 durians are priced at 50,000 - 60,000 VND/kg. With these selling prices, after deducting costs, farmers are making a decent profit.

The durian pickers will cut the ripe fruit and drop it to the people below.
The durians are collected right at the base of the tree before being transported to a collection point for traders to weigh.

Many orchard owners came to celebrate the harvest season, and without being told, everyone pitched in to gather and carry the durians.
Traders come directly to the orchards to buy durians. They tap and sort each durian before weighing it, loading it onto trucks for distribution throughout the country and for export.
Many durian traders said: "Durian growers in Dong Thap are harvesting off-season, selling at good prices, and making a decent profit."

These days, all along the roads of Long Tien commune, Dong Thap province, it's easy to spot locals and traders harvesting and transporting durian from orchards to collection points at intersections, creating a bustling atmosphere from morning till night…

And being able to join the farmers and traders in "tapping and cutting" durians is a very interesting experience.
