At the launch event of the Youth Bookstore - Thanh Nien Books, Luong Thuy Linh shared her concerns about taking on the role of reading culture ambassador for Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the Miss World Vietnam 2019 also spoke about the changes she has experienced after dedicating time to reading.
How has Luong Thuy Linh changed since reading books?
According to the beauty queen from Cao Bang, "not every child is born with a love for reading; it has to start from some need in life." Luong Thuy Linh admits that she has an adventurous, free-spirited, and dreamy soul. However, since childhood, she has felt pressured by her studies. This made the Miss World Vietnam 2019 feel stifled, and she once wanted to escape the confines of her four walls to explore beautiful lands.

“I’ve read many books, especially those by Nguyen Nhat Anh, including ‘I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass .’ I feel like a character in it, traveling to dreamy lands and no longer limited by boundaries. I hope Nguyen Nhat Anh will come to Cao Bang , my hometown, to write a book that inspires young people with adventurous spirits to explore new lands, just as he inspired me,” she expressed.
According to Luong Thuy Linh, each book at the Youth Bookstore provides different knowledge. The beauty queen personally pays attention to the book "The City I Love" because she wants to learn more about the place where she lives – a place that holds many unforgettable memories for her. Besides that, "The Miracle of Kindness" is also a publication that the Miss World Vietnam 2019 winner is interested in because it "encourages us to live a good life and to care for others."

Miss Luong Thuy Linh, along with Mr. Le Hoang and writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, received thank-you flowers from journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan - Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper.

Regarding the launch of the Youth Bookcase, Miss Luong Thuy Linh expressed her support. She said: “Young people today have many ways to entertain themselves. When they see something new in a familiar book street, it will make them curious to learn more. I hope that in the future, the Youth Bookcase will update with many more books. Young people today are easily attracted at first sight, so I hope that our bookcase will also have eye-catching covers and interesting titles to attract them.”
The Thanh Nien (Youth) Book Collection features a diverse range of topics including economics, culture, history, education, health, science, journalistic reports, and short stories from specialized sections and columns published in Thanh Nien Newspaper, as well as winning entries from writing competitions organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper. The launch of the book collection is part of the activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the first issue of Thanh Nien Newspaper (January 3, 1986 - January 3, 2026).
Besides Luong Thuy Linh, the launch event of the Youth Bookcase at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street also featured author Nguyen Nhat Anh and Mr. Le Hoang - who are ambassadors of reading culture in Ho Chi Minh City. The program also included performances by the duo Hoang Trang and Nguyen Dong.
