On the morning of August 23 in Thanh Hoa, the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) held a conference to meet with Tourism Associations of provinces and cities to thoroughly grasp the task of increasing tourist growth in 2025.
Speaking at the conference, VITA Chairman Vu The Binh emphasized: " The Government has assigned the tourism industry a very important task: By 2025, we must reach 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic visitors (according to Resolution 226/NQ-CP dated August 5, 2025). This task is large but completely feasible if we unite and act quickly and specifically. This is not just a number but a driving force for comprehensive reform, requiring the industry to rise stronger than ever."
The meeting on August 23 was also an opportunity for tourism associations of provinces and cities to attend to exchange, discuss and agree on action plans to demonstrate their determination to implement the Government's Resolution, contributing to increasing the contribution of the tourism industry to the national economy and raising the level of Vietnamese tourism.
According to Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, General Secretary of VITA, the Association strives to reach at least 25 million international tourists and 150 million domestic tourists throughout the year; Promote the development of the VITA GREEN Green Tourism brand to become an international trading brand.
The Association actively implements the VITA AWARDS 2025 Award Program within the framework of preparing for the organization of the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2026; Implements the Project to award the title "Culinary Artist; Bakery Artist; Beverage Artist".
At the same time, consolidate the organization of the Vietnam Tourism Association according to the provisions of Decree 126/2024/ND-CP dated October 8, 2024 of the Government.
In addition, the Association will also continue to detect, synthesize opinions and propose and recommend to competent state agencies at the central and local levels to resolve difficulties and problems of tourism businesses.

Besides, many opinions and proposals from local associations were also welcomed.
Representative of Da Nang Tourism Association, Mr. Cao Tri Dung proposed to deploy a series of activities to promote and stimulate tourism on a national and local scale; build events to promote Vietnamese tourism in target markets; call on localities that are gateways to welcome international visitors to proactively build breakthrough products to introduce to markets with the potential for rapid growth in the short term.
Currently, international visitors still concentrate on some big cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang... Meanwhile, in many localities, the rate of receiving international visitors accounts for 5 - 10% of the total number of visitors.
"To attract international visitors, especially high-end visitors who bring in large revenues from tourism types such as MICE, resorts, sports, etc., provinces and cities need to develop tourism in a sustainable direction, preserve cultural values, heritage, and build green tourism products," said Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association.
According to Mr. Dat, localities need to cooperate to create unique and special products to retain international visitors to stay longer, participate in more activities and increase spending in Vietnam.

Within the framework of the event, Mr. Phung Quang Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam Green Tourism Association, introduced the VITAGreen Green Tourism label recognition program.
VITA currently applies this label to four areas: tourist destinations, accommodation, travel, and food and beverage service establishments serving tourists. Of these, "destination" will be a popular and easily applicable concept after the provinces and cities are merged from 63 to 34.
Travel businesses, accommodation services, and destinations need to change their awareness, take action to transform green tourism, spread the green tourism movement, and contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's VITAGreen Green Tourism brand to become an international trading brand.
