Artisans from Thanh Lieu wood carving village demonstrate wood carving techniques.

The program, held on August 23rd, marked the opening of the Ngự Hà Viên cultural space (181 Xuân 68, Phú Xuân Ward, Huế City).

Here, visitors can listen to artisans share the history of this unique craft village and see firsthand ancient woodblock prints, woodblock carvings, carving tools, and woodblock publications from Thanh Lieu village. In addition, the artisans also guide visitors to experience and practice woodblock carving and printing.

The woodblock printing craft of Thanh Lieu has a history of nearly 600 years, renowned for its exquisite and valuable woodblock carving techniques. The village's ancient artisans were famous for creating renowned woodblock sets such as the Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks, the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda woodblocks, and the Phuc Giang School woodblocks, all of which have been recognized by UNESCO.

It is understood that following this event, Ngự Hà Garden plans to host many more cultural and artistic events, aiming to become a meeting place for heritage and culture lovers, a place that connects artisans and designers to meet, dialogue, and create.
