What are some attractive travel options for the 4-day National Day holiday (September 2nd)?

On August 16th, many travel companies announced they were urgently preparing products, services, and tours to meet the demand for travel during the upcoming four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Director of Marketing and Communications at Saigontourist Travel Company, said that tours for the September 2nd holiday at the company have already reached 88% of the expected capacity.

Based on tourist bookings, the most popular tour packages include a 3-day trip to Phu Quoc starting from 3.77 million VND; and a 3-day trip to Central Vietnam starting from 3.63 million VND (excluding airfare).

“During this holiday season, destinations in Northwest Vietnam, preparing for the rice harvest, will offer a special opportunity for tourists to admire the stunning natural landscape with its sprawling terraced rice fields, peaceful and romantic scenery. Mu Cang Chai, Sapa, Lai Chau, Dien Bien , and Moc Chau are popular destinations,” said Ms. Tra.

The tourism industry has just gone through the peak summer season, so the number of tour bookings for the September 2nd holiday is not expected to increase dramatically.

One notable point reported by travel companies is that the number of tour bookings has not increased dramatically; customers are choosing to travel on a spread-out basis, rather than concentrating their trips during holidays.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh, Marketing and IT Director of BenThanh Tourist Company, said that the September 2nd holiday falls within the period when tourists have just gone through the peak summer travel season and are preparing to enter the autumn-winter travel season. Therefore, market purchasing power is not high.

BenThanh Tourist has chosen to focus on tour programs that the company anticipates will be popular with tourists during this period, with highlights including tours to Northern Europe and Dubai; a series of tours to Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia for the outbound tourism market; and tours to Northern Vietnam, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, and Nha Trang… for the domestic tourism market.

“Currently, BenThanh Tourist has not recorded any sudden surge in the number of tourists during this year's holiday season. Besides the fully booked Northern Europe and Dubai tours, the Malaysia-Singapore combined tour is over 50% full, and other tours are still available for booking,” said Ms. Phuong Linh.

At TSTtourist, the number of available spots for this year's holiday season is limited, focusing on selected domestic and international tours. To date, approximately 50% of the company's reserved spots have been secured. The company predicts a significant increase in family and group bookings from around August 30th onwards, for both domestic and international destinations.

“This could be considered the last holiday for families before schools reopen. However, this year's summer vacation is unusually long, so there are no signs of service strain or a sudden surge in demand. Some tour groups have booked tours for autumn routes from September to November with overseas destinations,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Man, Director of Communications and Marketing at TST Tourist Company.

This year's four-day National Day holiday (September 2nd) promises positive signs for the tourism industry, even though demand isn't expected to surge dramatically.

Demand for overseas travel continues to dominate during both the holiday season and the upcoming two to three months of autumn.

According to Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of Viet Travel Company, the current sales rate for holiday tours has reached nearly 60%, with overseas tours accounting for up to 70% of bookings during the holiday season.

The 4-day holiday period is suitable for many overseas tours to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, South Korea, and Japan. Even 5-day tours are popular because the holiday time matches night flights.

"The difference is that while demand during the holidays doesn't spike, customers are showing a lot of interest in post-holiday autumn tours, both domestically and internationally."

"The trend of booking tours close to the holiday is also increasing among many family groups taking private tours, possibly due to avoiding crowds during the holiday and also because service prices are cheaper on weekdays than during holidays," Mr. Vu commented.
