Helping underprivileged children realize their dreams.
In a small house in Tan Thai village, Tan My commune, Duong Thi Thanh Huong (born in 2011) still struggles with life's hardships alongside her mother every day. Her father passed away early, and her mother is disabled and in poor health. The lives of the two depend mainly on the help of relatives and neighbors. At the age of 15, Huong faces more disadvantages than her peers. The expenses for her education and daily living are a constant worry for the mother and daughter.
Understanding Thanh Huong's circumstances, the Women's Union of Tan My commune, in coordination with the Provincial Women's Union, connected her with the Aspiration Fund to sponsor her. This support not only helps alleviate her economic burden but also instills confidence in the young student to continue nurturing her dream of going to school.
Huong's story is one of many cases that the Tan My Commune Women's Union has shown concern for and shared through its "Godmother" program. In recent years, the program has become a bridge of love, mobilizing the joint efforts of organizations and individuals to care for orphaned children and children with particularly difficult circumstances in the area.

In the first six months of 2026 alone, the Women's Union of the commune mobilized organizations, units, and philanthropists to sponsor four orphaned children with particularly difficult circumstances. Not stopping there, at the end of June, the union will continue to survey and implement a plan to connect resources and expects to sponsor an additional 7-10 children, extending its loving embrace to many less fortunate children.
Nguyen Thi Vinh, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tan My Commune, said: "Every child deserves the opportunity to study and grow up in the love and care of the community. We believe that the 'Godmother' program not only provides material support but also long-term companionship, helping children gain more motivation to strive in life. The Union will continue to mobilize organizations and individuals to partner with us in order to expand the program in the future."
These godmothers did not give birth to the children, but with love and responsibility, the women's association members in Tan My commune are striving to implement many activities to help compensate for the shortcomings and provide many children with more support on their journey to growing up. The gifts and support, though not very large, are a valuable source of encouragement for children in difficult circumstances, allowing them to always feel the care, love, and sharing from the community.
Small acts of kindness, great generosity.
Besides caring for disadvantaged children, the Women's Union of Tan My commune also maintains many charitable activities aimed at vulnerable female members, families facing difficulties, and those in need of assistance in the community.
One of the models that the association has effectively maintained over the past time is the "Collecting construction waste to build a charity fund". From plastic bottles, scrap paper, and household waste collected monthly by members, the branches have raised funds to visit members who are sick or suffering from serious illnesses, and to support families facing sudden difficulties. Most recently, from the accumulated fund, the Women's Union of the commune and the Women's Association of Tan Ha village promptly supported the family of member Pham Thi Thuong whose child suffered a serious accident, helping the family overcome a difficult period and providing spiritual strength during their time of hardship.

In addition, the Women's Union of the commune actively connects with businesses and philanthropists to implement the "Millions of Gifts Sharing Love" program, giving 20 gifts to disadvantaged women; and the "Tet Reunion" program, giving hundreds of gifts to poor women, orphans, and students with particularly difficult circumstances. What is commendable is that these activities are not just a trend or limited to holidays, but are regularly maintained through the collective efforts of numerous officials and women's union members in the area. Each person contributes a small part, creating a large resource to help those in need.
Along with social welfare activities, the Women's Union of Tan My commune also effectively maintains programs to support women's economic development, manages preferential loan capital, guides members in using capital for the right purposes, develops livelihoods, and stabilizes their lives. Currently, the union manages 10 savings and loan groups with a total outstanding loan balance of over 20 billion VND.
In the first six months of 2026, the association disbursed over 1.2 billion VND to members for production and business loans; at the same time, it regularly inspected and guided them on the effective use of capital. As members' lives improve, sharing activities also have more opportunities to develop, thereby creating a ripple effect for the women's movement at the grassroots level.
"Our biggest concern is that there are still many women and children in difficult circumstances in the area who need help. Therefore, in the coming time, the association will continue to call upon and connect organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to expand support activities, especially the 'Godmother' program. Every act of sharing, no matter how small, can become a great source of encouragement for those less fortunate. Hopefully, these simple acts will gradually cultivate compassion, create a strong sense of unity in the community, and further enhance the tradition of kindness in Tan My commune," shared Nguyen Thi Vinh, President of the Tan My Commune Women's Union.
