According to information from the Ministry of Transport on the afternoon of March 18, the unit has sent a document responding to the People's Committee of Tien Giang province regarding the proposal to build an emergency lane on the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway.
The Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project has been completed and put into operation since April 2022 in a phased manner. Phase 1 has 4 lanes with some emergency stops at intervals and a narrow width. Large vehicles when parked still occupy part of the lane, which can easily lead to traffic accidents.
The Ministry of Transport is coordinating with Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Tien Giang provinces to study the investment plan to expand the entire Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway on a complete scale and will report to competent authorities when conditions are met.
When implementing the investment to expand the above-mentioned highway on a full scale, emergency lanes will be built along the route to ensure traffic safety.
