Most of the U23 Vietnam players participating in the tournament had impressed in the U22 Vietnam jersey in the friendly tournament in China at the beginning of the year. That was the tournament where we drew with three strong opponents: China, Korea and Uzbekistan.
Speaking to the press, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “Winning consecutive championships is something to be proud of, but we don’t want to put too much pressure on the players. Football is a team sport , I always promote team spirit and discipline in competition. I always encourage the players to see this tournament as an opportunity to grow and develop, rather than just aiming for results.”
