On the evening of October 13, U23 Vietnam had a "return" friendly match with U23 Qatar during a training trip in the UAE to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship. In order to test the personnel, coach Dinh Hong Vinh used a completely new lineup compared to the 0-1 loss on October 9.
The relatively unknown names such as Nguyen Tan, Nam Hai, Tuan Phong, Thanh Trung... were given the opportunity to show their talent. All of them tried to score points to get an official place in the U23 team in the upcoming tournaments.
However, due to the change in force and not having the best strength when 8 players were promoted to the Vietnam team to play against Nepal, U23 Vietnam encountered many difficulties in operating the game, conceding 2 goals in the first half.

Before the first 45 minutes ended, Van Thuan was the one who shortened the score to 1-2 for coach Dinh Hong Vinh 's team.
In the second half, key players such as Van Truong, Ly Duc, Quoc Viet, Viktor Le... were brought onto the field, helping U23 Vietnam play better. Regaining control of the game, the Southeast Asian champions equalized 2-2 thanks to Quoc Viet.
However, in the 78th minute, the U23 Vietnam net shook again after a precise shot from the U23 Qatar player. The match ended with a 3-2 victory for the West Asian team.
Thus, U23 Vietnam lost both matches against U23 Qatar (0-1, 2-3), but the performance of Van Truong and his teammates brought many positive signals. After this training session, the young players returned to the club to prepare for round 7 of LPBank V-League 2025/26, and will gather again in November to aim for SEA Games 33 with the goal of winning gold medals.
