Dong Van Stone Plateau is “Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination in 2025”

On the evening of October 13, in Hong Kong (China), the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia and Oceania 2025 ceremony took place. Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark, Tuyen Quang province was awarded the title of "Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2025".

Representative of Tuyen Quang province received the title "Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2025".

“Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2025” is one of the most prestigious categories of the World Travel Awards (WTA), honoring destinations with outstanding achievements in preserving indigenous cultures, developing sustainable tourism and preserving natural ecosystems.

Previously, Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark was honored by WTA for two consecutive years with the titles of “Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination 2023” and “Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2024”.

Dong Van Stone Plateau is located at an average altitude of 1,000-1,600m above sea level, stretching over an area of ​​over 2,354km². This is one of the special limestone regions of the country, with unique landscapes and high biodiversity.

According to a survey by scientists from the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources, Dong Van Stone Plateau has 11 geological formations including: Chang Pung, Lutxia, Sika, Lang Xang, Si Phai, Toc Tat, Lung Nam, Bac Son, Dong Dang, Song Hien and Hong Ngai, of which Chang Pung is the oldest formation dating back more than 500 million years.

Not only having geological value, Dong Van Stone Plateau is also a living space of 17 ethnic groups, a place where diverse cultures converge and exchange over many generations. The villages perched on the cliffs, the ancient rammed earth houses, the highland markets, the Mong flute festival, the Dao people's coming-of-age ceremony or the Khau Vai love market... are all vivid evidence of the enduring cultural vitality amidst majestic nature.

The award “Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2025” once again affirms Tuyen Quang’s position on the regional and international tourism map. This is also a vivid demonstration of the province’s strategic vision in promoting the value of UNESCO heritage, turning geological and cultural resources into a driving force for green economic development, sustainable tourism and community livelihoods.

The World Travel Awards is a prestigious award of the global tourism industry, held annually since 1993. The award aims to honor organizations, businesses and destinations with outstanding achievements in the fields of aviation, hotels, resorts, golf tourism, destinations, rail transport and many other categories.
