Meaningful experience of mass communication students at Nhan Dan Newspaper

Overview of the exchange program between students of the Academy of Journalism and Communication and Nhan Dan Newspaper.

The field trip delegation consisted of 54 students from the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Journalism and Communication, led by Master Nguyen Thi Huyen.

With the warm and friendly welcome of the staff of Nhan Dan Newspaper, the students had a useful and profound experience.

Journalist Vu Mai Hoang, Head of the Technology Department of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Nhan Dan Newspaper Journalists Association warmly welcomed the students of the Academy to participate in the practical exchange at the editorial office; along with that, he gave an overview of the more than 70-year process of establishment and development of Nhan Dan Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Party, the voice of the Party, the State and the People of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the program, the student delegation watched a documentary film produced by Nhan Dan Newspaper, reflecting the process of formation, development and contributions of the newspaper to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. At the same time, the students also listened to the enthusiastic sharing from journalists, thereby better understanding the glorious tradition, innovative spirit and constant efforts of the Nhan Dan Newspaper team.

Emphasizing the role of the press team in the digital transformation era, journalist Vu Mai Hoang affirmed that the development and progress of Nhan Dan Newspaper comes from the press team itself. Therefore, each staff and reporter needs to seriously improve their skills, proactively grasp technology, and adapt to new media trends.

Discussing the digital transformation work, journalist Ta Quang Dung, Head of the Culture and Society Department, said: “Nhan Dan Newspaper also encountered many difficulties in the early days. However, once mastering the technology, the implementation team gradually grasped new methods, turning challenges into opportunities to improve the quality of information and communication effectiveness of the newspaper.”

Nowadays, print newspapers are facing great challenges from the strong development of electronic newspapers and social networks. Realizing that, Nhan Dan Newspaper has proactively promoted the digital transformation process, harmoniously combining traditional print newspapers with modern technology platforms. This effort is not only to expand the readership but also to contribute to improving the quality of information and communication efficiency in the new era.

Along with that, Nhan Dan Newspaper also promotes information and propaganda activities on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and regularly launches specialized pages and topics with depth and updates on modern media trends. These efforts not only clearly demonstrate the newspaper's development strategy towards in-depth journalism and data journalism, but also contribute to expanding its reach, attracting more young readers, bringing Nhan Dan Newspaper closer to the public in the digital age.

Journalist Vu Mai Hoang said: “In addition to the daily issues, Nhan Dan Newspaper also publishes many supplements and inserts with QR codes. When scanning the code, readers can directly access extended content, images, videos or data related to the article. That way, readers can not only access information through printed newspapers but also experience the content vividly on digital platforms.”

Not only focusing on professional work, Nhan Dan Newspaper also actively organizes many activities and events of social significance, contributing to spreading humanistic values and enhancing the position of the Central press agency.

Journalist Ngo Viet Anh, Director of the Center for Media Development, said: “Nhan Dan Newspaper has deployed propaganda to celebrate major national holidays such as: 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day, National Reunification Day; 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh ; 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2; Exhibition of National Achievements. All propaganda campaigns apply technologies such as 3D mapping, AR and VR”.

Students of the Academy of Journalism and Communication expressed their love and admiration for the outstanding achievements of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

During the discussion, the students actively exchanged, asked questions and shared their thoughts and concerns about journalism. Representative of the delegation, student Nguyen Thanh Ngan expressed her gratitude for being invited to participate in the exchange, and wished Nhan Dan Newspaper to continue to reap many successes, spreading humanistic values and authentic information to the public.

At the end of the exchange, the delegation of students from the Academy of Journalism and Communication presented Nhan Dan Newspaper with a meaningful souvenir. At the same time, the delegation also received special supplements published on important occasions of the country.

This is also a tribute and encouragement to the spirit of learning, continuing the tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism of generations of students.
