Connecting “two houses” - the power of innovation in Vietnamese agriculture
The program “Pride of Vietnamese Farmers 2025” took place in the joyful atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2025). This is the 13th consecutive year the event has been held to honor outstanding farmers in all areas of agricultural and rural life - the pioneers in the construction of new rural areas, the development of modern agriculture and the protection of national security.
The “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers” of 2025 are all people who dare to think, dare to do, pioneers in applying science, technology, and high technology to production; effectively exploiting land, labor, capital, and market resources. They are typical factors in four criteria groups: Agricultural production, business, and services; building new rural areas; protecting national security; having initiatives and inventions that are effectively applied in practice. Among the 63 honored faces, there are 9 female farmers and 4 representatives of ethnic minorities; many have become agricultural billionaires, creating jobs for hundreds of workers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan emphasized: "Outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2025 are shining examples in production, business, building new rural areas, and protecting national security. They are also the core force spreading the spirit of innovation, self-reliance, and self-reliance, contributing to building ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and civilized farmers."
According to Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Luong Quoc Doan, the simultaneous honoring of “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer” and “Farmer Scientist” has profound meaning, demonstrating the close bond between “two houses” – scientists and farmers – in the agricultural innovation chain. This is also a step to concretize the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the new era.
“Scientists have been accompanying farmers, applying scientific and technological advances to production, contributing to improving productivity and quality of agricultural products, promoting sustainable development of Vietnamese agriculture,” the Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union emphasized.

Arousing the desire of Vietnamese farmers to become rich legitimately
Congratulating the outstanding Vietnamese farmers and farmers' scientists who were honored, President Luong Cuong stated that throughout the history of the Vietnamese nation, our farmers have played a very important role, making great contributions in the process of reclaiming land, expanding territory, founding the country, building and defending the Fatherland.
The President affirmed that in the 95 years of establishment, development and growth, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has continuously grown, becoming a large political and social organization, representing the will, aspirations, legal and legitimate rights of the peasant class. The Union has made many great contributions to the struggle for national independence, national unification, and the construction and protection of the Fatherland.
The President expressed his appreciation for the examples of farmers who, through their diligence, creativity, perseverance, and efforts, strive to become billionaires in the fields, legitimately enriching themselves, their families, and their communities; pioneering farmers in digital transformation of agriculture, actively participating in inventions and innovations; examples of noble actions such as donating hundreds of square meters of land to build new rural areas, protect the country's borders, and many other outstanding and exemplary farmers.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President congratulated and commended the efforts, attempts and important contributions of outstanding farmers and farmer scientists in the cause of national construction and innovation.
The President praised the Vietnam Farmers' Union for its very practical initiative, proactively coordinating with ministries and branches to organize the program "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers" and the ceremony to honor and award the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" over the past 13 years, recognizing, encouraging and promoting typical advanced farmers, good people, good deeds in the patriotic emulation movement, agricultural development, new rural construction and national defense.
In the context of the world situation continuing to change in a complex and unpredictable manner; in the country, besides opportunities and favorable conditions, there are still many difficulties and challenges. The President said that to realize the two 100-year strategic goals, agriculture, farmers and rural areas play a very important role; they are the foundation and great force contributing to socio-economic development, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, maintaining political stability, ensuring national defense and security, preserving and promoting cultural values and Vietnamese people, meeting the requirements of international integration.
The President requested the Vietnam Farmers' Union to promote its glorious tradition of 95 years of establishment, development and growth. Farmers' Unions at all levels need to continue to perform well their role of representing the legitimate rights and interests of members and farmers; effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.
The President requested to continue successfully implementing the revolution of reorganizing the apparatus in the direction of streamlining - compactness - strength; effectiveness - efficiency, close to the people; strongly innovating the method of operation to build a strong Association in politics, ideology, and organization, meeting the requirements of the new development stage; strengthening supervision, social criticism, giving opinions to build the Party and government, regularly dialogue, listen to farmers' opinions, promote and expand the initiative "Listening to farmers speak".
The President emphasized that the Vietnam Farmers' Union needs to promote emulation movements associated with new rural construction, especially the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", attracting a large number of members, farmers from all regions, all ethnic groups, especially remote areas, and areas with many difficulties, to build modern rural areas, with synchronous socio-economic infrastructure; green, clean and beautiful environment; healthy and rich cultural life, imbued with national identity; political security, order and social safety are guaranteed... so that farmers can have a better life.
The President hopes that the Association will continue to arouse and promote patriotism, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-control, and the desire to become rich legitimately; farmers must truly be the subject and center in agricultural development, rural economy, and new rural construction.

Emphasizing that the task of building the peasant class and consolidating a strong worker-farmer-intellectual alliance under the Party's leadership is a matter of principle and the foundation of the cause of "Great National Unity", the President requested that Farmers' Associations at all levels need to be highly determined, have good measures, and closely coordinate with intellectuals and scientists to support and help farmers improve the quality of agricultural commodity production chains; at the same time, promote innovation, digital transformation in agriculture, protect the ecological environment; proactively integrate internationally, and preserve national cultural identity.
The President hopes that the “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers” and “Farmer Scientists” honored today will continue to write and spread inspirational stories; continue to contribute, maintain creative ways of working, unite, help each other to become rich for themselves, their families and the country, and follow the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: “Make sure the poor have enough to eat, those who have enough to eat are well-off and rich; those who are well-off and rich are richer”.
With the glorious tradition of 95 years of construction, development and growth, the President believes that with the spirit of solidarity and self-reliance of the Farmers' Association, the peasant class, the accompaniment of scientists; the attention, care, leadership and close direction of the Party and State, the Association will certainly reap even more brilliant successes, contributing to bringing our country firmly into a new era - an era of strong, prosperous and happy development of the Vietnamese people.
At the program, delegates enjoyed a special epic art program titled "Glory of Vietnamese Farmers", recreating the 95-year journey of the Vietnamese peasant class accompanying the country and the great contributions in each revolutionary stage of the country.
