On the side of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, there were comrades: Luong Quoc Doan, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; along with 300 typical and outstanding advanced models in the patriotic emulation movement of the Farmers' Union.
The event marked the recognition of the Party, State and people for the great, persistent and continuous contributions of the peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union during 95 years of construction, fighting, dedication and growth; at the same time, affirmed the central role and subject of farmers in the cause of agricultural development, new rural construction and firmly protecting modern, sustainable and integrated Vietnamese agriculture.
Farmers are the core of the country's development.
Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, emphasized: Agriculture, farmers and rural areas have a very important strategic position in the Party's revolutionary cause. Over 95 years of construction and development, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has always been a great political force, loyal to the Party, closely attached to the people, a solid support for the peasant class and the great national unity bloc. Under the leadership of the Party, Vietnamese farmers have promoted the tradition of patriotism, diligence, creativity, creating a lot of wealth and material, meeting domestic consumption needs and serving exports.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Do Van Chien said: In recognition of the great achievements, the Party and State have awarded the Vietnamese peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union many noble awards. At today's emulation congress, the Party and State awarded the title of People's Armed Hero to the Farmers' Union for the Liberation of the Central Highlands, along with 10 outstanding individuals who were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal. Hundreds of outstanding individuals with outstanding achievements in all fields of production, business and the Union's work were commended by the Prime Minister and sectors at all levels. The sweat and efforts of Vietnamese farmers and farmers' union members across the country have contributed to our country's current foundation, potential, position and international prestige. The hard-working, creative farmers who work day and night have created bumper crops and our country has transformed from a country with a lack of food into the world's number one or two rice exporter. The achievements of Vietnamese farmers and the Vietnam Farmers' Union have further glorified the tradition of heroic, industrious, creative and compassionate Vietnamese farmers.
In the context of the country entering a new era, building a prosperous, civilized and happy country, comrade Do Van Chien proposed that all levels of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the peasant class nationwide unite to compete and implement a number of important contents well. In particular, it is necessary to focus on building a strong and comprehensive association organization, strongly innovating the content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, residential areas as the center of gathering, uniting and supporting farmers with the motto: "Wherever farmers are in difficulty, farmers need, there is the Farmers' Union".
The Association needs to truly innovate patriotic emulation movements in a practical and effective direction, linked to the Association's political tasks and build a specific action program, effectively implement the tasks that General Secretary To Lam directed at the first Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central organizations; making the patriotic emulation movement truly become a great driving force, with strong spreading power in the work of building modern countryside, ecological agriculture, civilized farmers - three pillars of sustainable agricultural development, contributing to realizing the aspiration for a rich, civilized, and happy Vietnam.
The Association needs to step up propaganda, raise awareness and qualifications for cadres, members and farmers on collective economy, safe agricultural and food business, market connection, digital transformation and international integration, at the same time strengthen the role of the Association in participating in social supervision and criticism, expanding democracy, paying attention to listening to farmers' aspirations, promptly reflecting and proposing to the Party and State; doing a good job of being a bridge, a substantive dialogue between farmers and leaders of the Government, ministries, branches and local authorities. The Association grasps the situation, results of the arrangement, streamlining of the apparatus and activities of the Provincial Farmers' Association, especially at the commune level, proactively proposing to remove difficulties and obstacles, training and fostering professional expertise and skills, so that association officials at all levels can adapt to the two-level local government model, truly close to the people, serving the people. Thoroughly grasp the guiding ideology of General Secretary To Lam "The new model must have new thinking, new ways of doing, new efficiency" and the results of the Association must be quantified, weighed, measured, and counted.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan reviewed the 95-year history of establishment and development of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. With its predecessor being the "Red Farmers' Union", established by the Party on October 14, 1930 under the name "General Farmers' Union of Indochina", through revolutionary periods with many different names, under the leadership of the Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has continuously grown in all aspects, always accompanying the Vietnamese peasant class, making important contributions to the revolutionary cause and the common achievements of the country.
The development of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has always been closely linked to each historical period of the country, through 8 Congresses with appropriate goals and tasks for each term. The Unions at all levels have been making efforts to promote the role of farmers as the subject and center in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction; arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
Compete to build a strong Association
The 6th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has the theme: "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity - Emulation to build a strong Vietnam Farmers' Union, confidently entering a new era with the nation".
In recent years, the Vietnam Farmers' Union at all levels has actively responded to and widely launched patriotic emulation movements, campaigns launched by the Prime Minister and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in conjunction with the Union's tasks and emulation movements have spread strongly, attracting millions of members to respond, creating a vibrant atmosphere among cadres, members and farmers nationwide. The focus is on the movements: "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", "Cadres, members, and farmers actively participate in collective economic development", "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas", "The whole people protect national security", "The whole country competes in innovation and digital transformation", "Digital literacy", the special emulation movement "The whole country unites, joins hands to compete, prevent, fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic"... at the same time directing the launching of special emulation campaigns, peaks to celebrate the anniversaries of important events of the Party, the country and the Vietnam Farmers' Union.
The work of the Association and the farmers' movement is increasingly innovative, substantial, and effective, bringing practical benefits to members and farmers. Every year, millions of farming households register to strive to achieve the title of good farmers and businessmen at all levels; through evaluation, 60% or more achieve titles at the commune, district and provincial levels, of which about 300 households achieve the title of good farmers at the central level. In the period of 2020-2025, good farming and business households at all levels have helped over 815,000 poor households and households in difficult circumstances with plants, seeds, agricultural materials, technical guidance, product consumption... worth over 6,720 billion VND; over 108,000 farming households have escaped poverty and are striving to get rich; Contributed to building thousands of charity houses, gratitude houses, and farmer shelters, and helped over 1.2 million poor households have more resources to develop production; contributed hundreds of billions of VND to local funds.
Over the past 5 years, the Central Association has organized many activities to honor and commend typical examples, contributing to strongly spreading the "New Farmer Model" in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country, in which the Program "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers" has honored 339 outstanding farmers.
In the coming period, the President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union requested that Farmers' Unions at all levels focus on propagating, thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on emulation and rewards; imbue President Ho Chi Minh's patriotic emulation ideology; continue to innovate the content and methods of organizing emulation movements, associated with the implementation of resolutions of the Central Committee, the Politburo and the Government on agriculture, farmers, rural areas, collective economic development, private economy, science - technology and digital transformation. The Union is interested in improving the quality of the movements "Good farmers in production and business", "Farmers participating in collective economic development", towards green livelihoods, digital agriculture, sustainable value chains; compete to build a strong Union organization, study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. Along with that, promote the role of farmers in monitoring, social criticism, Party and government building; Strengthen dialogue between leaders, authorities and farmers, expand democracy at the grassroots level; innovate reward work, ensure timeliness, fairness, transparency, and link with emulation movement results, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's development goals by 2030.
At the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" during the resistance war against the US to the Farmers' Association for Liberation of Zone V. On this occasion, 44 delegates were awarded awards including: 10 Third-class Labor Medals, 34 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, and 256 Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Farmers' Association.
