Before the 2025 Shanghai Masters kicked off in China, Alcaraz withdrew and lost 200 points due to his performance in the quarterfinals last year. Defending champion Jannik Sinner had to retire in the third round due to cramps, causing him to lose 950 points, increasing the gap with Alcaraz to 1,340 points in the ATP rankings.
Novak Djokovic also missed the chance to return to the world's top 4 when he unexpectedly fell in the semi-finals to Vacherot. The Serbian star lost 250 points, continuing at number 5. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev (Germany) and Taylor Fritz (USA) also stopped early, losing 50 points and 350 points respectively.

Jack Draper (England) dropped one place because he did not participate in the Shanghai Masters, while Daniil Medvedev moved up from 18th to 14th thanks to reaching the semi-finals.
Valentin Vacherot made a miraculous step forward when he won the Shanghai Masters 2025 on October 12. The Monaco player defeated his cousin Arthur Rinderknech 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to win the title in China.
Vacherot won all the matches at the Shanghai Masters 2025 and won the first ATP Masters 1000 title of his career. Thanks to this achievement, the Monaco star was awarded 1,020 points, moving from 104th to 40th in the ATP rankings.
Arthur Rinderknech also had a memorable tournament in China, he was awarded 620 points and moved from 54th to 28th in the world. The Vacherot - Rinderknech final was the third time in the history of the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments that two unseeded players met in the final.
