Make a strong mark on the international tourism map

World Travel Awards - known as the "Oscars of the tourism industry", is the world's leading prestigious awards system, honoring the best units and destinations in the field of tourism, travel and hotels. The fact that Vietnam continues to be named in important categories shows the growing appeal of the S-shaped country on the world tourism map.

Not only famous for its majestic natural landscapes such as Ha Long Bay, Son Doong Cave, Mu Cang Chai terraced fields or Phu Quoc beach, Vietnam also possesses a rich cultural heritage system recognized by UNESCO, thousands of traditional festivals, traditional craft villages and unique cuisine.

The harmonious combination of nature, culture, people and services, along with the orientation of sustainable tourism development, has created a Vietnamese tourism brand that is increasingly competitive at the regional and international level.

Over the years, Vietnam has made a strong transformation to become the top choice for international tourists. A series of titles at the World Travel Awards seasons have reflected the remarkable growth of Vietnam's tourism industry.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, with determination and the right direction, Vietnam has not only successfully rebuilt and strongly restored tourism activities but also promoted the tourism industry to new heights. In 2023, Vietnam welcomed 12.6 million international visitors, 3.4 times higher than in 2022. In 2024, this number increased to 17.6 million, recovering 98% compared to 2019 - the highest recovery in the ASEAN region.

According to the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), in the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam tourism is a bright spot with the highest growth rate of international tourists in the Asia-Pacific region with an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2024 - a record high compared to the global average increase of 5%. In the first nine months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 15.4 million international visitors, an increase of 21.5% compared to the same period in 2024 and is expected to set a new record in international visitors this year.

Achievements from innovation efforts and strategic orientation

In recent years, Vietnam has taken drastic and synchronous steps to improve the national tourism competitiveness, with a series of key policies being strongly implemented. Notably, the innovation in visa policy has been expanded by the Government, which has expanded visa exemptions, issued e-visas to all countries, and increased the temporary stay period for international visitors entering Vietnam.

Along with that, tourism promotion and advertising activities have been comprehensively innovated towards professionalization. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have increased the organization of promotional campaigns in key markets such as the United States, China, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Germany, France, Germany, Italy, India, Australia, etc.; strengthened public-private cooperation, promoted social resources; promoted the application of technology and digital transformation in tourism promotion.

At the same time, Vietnam has strengthened transport connectivity and developed tourism infrastructure with a series of key highways being invested in and built. The international airport system has been expanded and modernized. Many direct and charter flights connecting Vietnam with foreign markets have been opened, creating favorable conditions to welcome international visitors.

The tourism industry has also made efforts to diversify its product types to attract many tourist segments. New tourism products such as health care, golf tourism, railway tourism, agricultural tourism, sports tourism, music tourism... are increasingly popular.

Destination management is being focused on to ensure service quality, a healthy business environment, and bring the best experiences to tourists, thereby promoting green and sustainable tourism development.

The driving force for a new breakthrough phase

The World Travel Awards are not only a recognition of achievements, but also a driving force for Vietnam tourism to continue to affirm its position in the future. In the context of increasingly fierce regional and global tourism competition, maintaining cultural identity, conserving natural resources, developing international standard services and constantly innovating will be the "golden key" for Vietnam tourism to continue to rise and truly become a "Bright star on the Asian tourism map".
