The soldier instills hope on the border.

For a full 10 years, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan, Deputy Team Leader of the Mass Mobilization Team of Tan Thanh Border Guard Station (Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard Command), has been dedicated to working with the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Hoa commune, Bu Dop district, Binh Phuoc province. He has persistently campaigned for the construction of new rural areas and social welfare. His dedication and exemplary conduct have brought about profound changes in people's lives and firmly strengthened the trust of the people in this border region.

Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Skillful mass mobilization leads to success in everything," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan, regardless of the circumstances, always upholds a high sense of responsibility, stays close to the grassroots, maintains close ties with the people, and persistently mobilizes them to understand and work together for the benefit of the community.

A heart for the people

Since 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan (then an officer at Thanh Hoa Border Guard Station) was assigned to Thanh Hoa commune to advise the Party Committee on propaganda, mass mobilization, and developing Party members. As Deputy Head of the Commune's Propaganda Department, he always used studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of President Ho Chi Minh as a guiding principle for his actions.

In the work of building new rural areas, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan is a pioneer in mobilizing people to donate land and expand roads, contributing to changing the face of rural border areas in recent years. In 2022, he directly mobilized people to donate 1,500 m² of land, voluntarily cut down 70 rubber trees, 15 cashew trees, and many other crops to expand and upgrade about 10km of red gravel and asphalt roads. He also mobilized people to build 900m of cement concrete roads in groups 1, 3, and 4, and more than 830m in other areas, with a total value of over 74.7 million VND.

Furthermore, over the years, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan has pioneered the "Lighting Up Rural Roads" model, mobilizing local residents to contribute funds to install 43 solar-powered streetlights along 2km of road, with a total cost of nearly 46 million VND. At night, the light from these streetlights not only illuminates the road but also instills confidence and a sense of security in each resident. The system of 9 security cameras that he helped install has enabled law enforcement to promptly detect and prevent violations, contributing to maintaining security and order in the locality.

In 2024 alone, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan successfully mobilized numerous resources, focusing on improving cultural life and security at the grassroots level. Specifically, he raised over 27 million VND to purchase a projector and 15 million VND for sports equipment at the cultural center. In addition, he promoted health insurance, built roads, implemented the "Saving for the Needy" movement, and raised 11.8 million VND to support people in the North affected by natural disasters.

In 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan was commended as an exemplary figure in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. He is a highly responsible officer who consistently excels in his duties, acting as a "bridge" connecting the people with the government, contributing to building a strong all-people border defense posture along the nation's borders.

Actions speak louder than words, for the benefit of the people.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan also placed special emphasis on poverty reduction and social welfare. In 2022, he provided technical guidance to help four local households escape poverty and mobilized support for disadvantaged students to prevent them from dropping out of school. Specifically, he persuaded four students who had dropped out to return to school, thereby strongly spreading the spirit of mutual support and compassion within the community.

During the period 2021-2025, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan consistently performed his duties excellently, and was recognized by the former Thanh Hoa Commune Party Committee as an exemplary figure in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings. He also served as the Party Secretary of Hamlet 1, directly leading various movements, contributing to strengthening the grassroots political system, enhancing national unity, and ensuring security and order in the border region.

For Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan, community outreach is done with dedication and faith in the people. "Actions speak louder than words, and actions are for the benefit of the people," he always sets a good example and is devoted. He proactively guides the people in applying science and technology to production, contributing to improving their lives, and earning their trust and support.

Over the years, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan has also voluntarily donated nearly 30 million VND from his personal funds to support the construction of cultural centers, purchase projectors, install curtains, assist people in the North in overcoming the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi (September 2024), support poor households, and purchase sports equipment for the community. For him, these contributions, though small, help to foster solidarity and close ties between the military and the people.

Spreading faith at the border

Mr. Mai Cong Danh, Head of Hamlet 1, Thien Hung Commune, commented: "Local people consider Mr. Tuan as a family member. His dedication and proactive approach in community outreach have strengthened the solidarity between the military and the people, ensuring timely support for the people and reinforcing their trust in the Party committee and the government."

Major Nguyen Minh Hoang, Deputy Political Officer of Thanh Hoa Border Guard Station, said: "During the period of deployment to the grassroots level from 2015-2025, Comrade Nguyen Danh Tuan was a shining example in mass mobilization work and local development. He was always exemplary, dedicated, and provided effective advice, contributing to strengthening the people's trust."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan humbly stated that what he does is the responsibility of a Party member and a soldier of Uncle Ho. "I only hope that the people trust the Party and the border guards. When the people are safe and strong, the border will be secure," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan shared.

Border guard Nguyen Danh Tuan is a prime example of a soldier in the new era: loyal, exemplary, and wholeheartedly dedicated to the people. His example is spreading faith and fostering aspirations to build a more prosperous, beautiful, and peaceful border region in Dong Nai.
