Ho Chi Minh Square was covered with red flags in the early morning sun.
Before 6 a.m., while Vinh city was still not fully awake after a peaceful night, groups of people began pouring into Ho Chi Minh Square. The crowd grew larger and larger, creating a sea of people ablaze with the vibrant red of the national flag, the liberation flag, and heart-shaped or flag-shaped stickers on children's cheeks and adults' chests.
From the elderly to the young, everyone eagerly gazed towards the large LED screen prominently displayed in the square.
"This is the first time I've seen so many people come here so early; the atmosphere is very moving. It feels like I'm reliving those historic moments from years ago," a local resident shared as the program officially began.

On the screen, the image of the magnificent parade in Ho Chi Minh City appeared vividly. The rhythmic steps of the armed forces, the masses, the veteran groups, the youth, the women… were broadcast live to the square where President Ho Chi Minh was born. Below the screen, many eyes were intently focused, no one wanting to miss a single detail.
“Today I am very happy to be sitting in Ho Chi Minh Square watching the live broadcast of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Our army and people have shed so much blood to make our country what it is today. I hope the younger generation will strive to study and work hard to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors,” said Mr. Hoang Van Tien (67 years old).
The most touching moment for many was when the song "As if Uncle Ho were present on the day of the great victory" was sung in unison by the local people. This familiar song, which resonated throughout Southern Vietnam in 1975, now echoed through the square of Uncle Ho's hometown, sung in unison by the people of Nghe An .

“It was wonderful to be in front of the big screen watching the live broadcast. Especially when everyone sang the song about Uncle Ho in unison, I couldn't hold back my tears. Thank you to the Party, the State, Uncle Ho, and the generations of our ancestors who brought peace to our country,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong (78 years old) emotionally.
Also at the square, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh (80 years old), a veteran who directly participated in the 1975 Spring Offensive, said: “We fought our whole lives to have moments of peace like this. Today's young generation needs to know that peace in the country did not come naturally. Blood and tears were exchanged for April 30th. I hope my children and grandchildren will always remember the past.”
