People voluntarily donate land for the construction of new rural areas.

Through the propaganda and mobilization efforts of all levels of government, especially the efforts of the local police force in "going door to door," many households in the communes and wards of Hue City have voluntarily donated land for the construction of public works and roads. The land donation movement has spread throughout the community, contributing to changing the face of villages and communes, and serving the construction of new rural areas.

In late May 2025, many domestic and international tourists visiting Thien Mu Pagoda and the gardens and tourist attractions along both banks of the Perfume River in Huong Long ward (Phu Xuan district, Hue City) were amazed by the neat and beautiful scenery along the roads there.

Few people know that, in the past, many roads and alleys in Huong Long ward, such as Nguyen Phuc Chu, Phan Trong Tinh, Le Quang Quyen, Nguyen Huu Dat, etc., were narrow, causing difficulties in transportation and posing potential traffic safety risks. Faced with this situation, the Huong Long ward authorities, in coordination with the ward police and other departments and organizations, carried out propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage residents to donate land for road widening.

Mr. Ha Van Quang, residing in Huong An ward, Phu Xuan district, Hue city, stands beside his newly built fence after donating land for road construction.

Ms. Vo Thi Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Long Ward, said that with the motto "The State and the people work together," the locality has organized meetings with residents, listened to their thoughts and aspirations, and clearly explained the benefits of widening the alleyways so that people understand. "Thanks to this, many people have voluntarily donated land and contributed funds to widen the roads, build drainage systems, and pave sidewalks. Thanks to the effectiveness of the propaganda work, in the past period, people in the ward have donated more than 1,600 square meters of land; 19 roads and alleyways in the ward have been upgraded and widened," Ms. Vo Thi Phuoc said.

In Huong An ward (Phu Xuan district, Hue City), thanks to the active involvement of various departments, organizations, and the ward's police force in propaganda and mobilization efforts, many households in the area have voluntarily donated land for road construction, public works, and rural development projects.

Lieutenant Colonel Bach Nu Thanh Huong, Head of Huong An Ward Police, said that the ward police have promoted the role of security and order forces at the grassroots level, "going door to door," actively propagating people's participation in models to build the movement of "All People Protecting National Security." Through this, they have integrated propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to donate land to build bright, clean, beautiful, and safe roads. For example, after being persuaded by the local police and officials, Mr. Ha Van Quang (in An Luu residential area, Huong An ward) donated more than 50 square meters of residential and garden land to expand the road.

“After being informed about the project to expand and upgrade the alleyway under the ‘State and people working together’ approach, my family registered to donate land. Many households in the alley also volunteered to donate land, so now this road is widened and straight. Now, cars carrying tourists and trucks carrying materials and fertilizers can easily access my family's vegetable garden and those of other households,” Mr. Quang shared.

To expand the road network, many households along both sides of the alleyways in Huong An ward voluntarily demolished their walls, fences, gate posts, and awnings to donate land, with the smallest donation being 20 square meters and the largest exceeding 100 square meters. Notably, although land prices in the alleyways and lanes of Huong An ward are currently quite high, the households unanimously agreed to donate land for the purpose of building clean and beautiful alleyways and lanes to serve the transportation needs of the people.

Speaking with a reporter from the People's Police Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Huong An Ward, shared that from 2024 to the present, many households in the ward have voluntarily registered to donate residential and garden land to serve the construction of roads and public works. In particular, residents in An Luu residential area alone have donated land totaling over 3,500 square meters, along with assets on the land, fences, and houses, valued at approximately over 1 billion VND.

Similarly, after Hue City decided to expand alleyways, from mid-2024 to the present, the authorities and organizations in Thuy Bieu ward, Thuan Hoa district (Hue City) have gone "door-to-door" to persuade households to donate land. Through this campaign, more than 100 households voluntarily donated 5,000 - 6,000 of garden land to expand the alleyways. Among them, Mr. Ho Xuan Ninh in Thuy Bieu ward voluntarily donated 500 ; Mr. Hoang Trong Kha (in Dong Phuoc 1 group, Thuy Bieu ward) donated nearly 200 of garden land to expand alley 8 Nguyet Bieu, along with many other households who agreed to donate 100 to 300 of land. Thanks to this, the project to expand Thanh Nghi road, over 1 km long and 6-8m wide, has been completed, creating favorable conditions for people and vehicles to travel.

According to the leaders of the Hue City People's Committee, thanks to the active involvement of departments and organizations in communes and wards, especially the police force directly working on the ground, the land donation movement has spread widely and received the support and approval of many people. The voluntary land donations by citizens not only expand many transportation routes, serve the construction of public works and new rural areas, but also contribute to beautifying and creating a modern and civilized appearance for the city.
