The person who 'helped' MU get rid of Sancho

Jadon Sancho has revealed that he took advice from Marcus Rashford to join Aston Villa in the summer of 2025.

After a difficult time at Old Trafford, Sancho chose Villa Park as a launching pad to revive his career. The midfielder joined the team on a season-long loan, without a buyout clause. Aston Villa also agreed to pay 80% of Sancho's salary.

Before deciding to sign the contract, Sancho sought advice from his close friend Rashford. Rashford played half of the 2024/25 season at Villa Park and assessed this as a suitable environment for Sancho to develop.

"Rashford said a lot of good things about the club, that it's like a family and the atmosphere is very friendly. The teammates and staff are also great. I definitely felt that when I first came," Sancho said on the day of his new team's introduction.

The England midfielder also said he was very excited about coach Unai Emery's project at Aston Villa. The former Borussia Dortmund star said: "When I spoke to the coach, he gave me faith and confidence. Emery showed me the plan that the team wanted to achieve this year and that really inspired me."

Before joining Aston Villa, Sancho received many offers from European clubs but failed to reach an agreement. The 25-year-old player is entering the final year of his contract at MU, with the option to extend for another 12 months.

MU won hard at home. Late on August 30, Manchester United had their first victory in the Premier League when they defeated Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford.
