Unlike regular trains, The Hanoi Train is likened to a “mobile stage” on the rails. Each train car is a cultural story associated with the five gates of Thang Long citadel, recreating the historical space right on the journey.
The train consists of 7 carriages: 5 double-decker seating carriages and 2 check-in carriages, with a capacity of 40-60 passengers/carriage. Modern interiors, panoramic glass windows open to the maximum, providing an experience of viewing Hanoi and its surroundings from a new perspective.
Each train car is a cultural story associated with the five gates of Thang Long citadel.
The train operates 3 times a day, morning from 8:00 – 11:30, afternoon from 13:30 – 17:00, evening departing from 20:30, with two main routes:
- Daytime (Hanoi – Tu Son, Bac Ninh ): Departing from Hanoi station, passing through Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien and ending in Tu Son. The journey lasts more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, taking visitors to the Kinh Bac cultural region – the homeland of Quan Ho folk songs, associated with many relics such as Do Temple of the Ly Dynasty.
- At night (around Hanoi city): Departing from Hanoi station, the train passes through Long Bien, Dong Anh, Ha Dong stations and then returns to the starting point. This is an opportunity for visitors to see a Hanoi sparkling in the lights.
Ticket prices range from 550,000 - 750,000 VND/passenger, depending on the class of carriage.
Panoramic glass doors open to maximum, providing a panoramic view of Hanoi and surrounding areas.
The highlight is the vibrant cultural space on the train. Throughout the trip, visitors will enjoy traditional art forms such as Quan Ho singing, Cheo singing, Ca Tru singing, and Xam singing. The melodies echoing in the train space make the journey poetic, connecting modernity and tradition. The double-decker tourist train “The Hanoi Train” opens a unique experience combining tourism, heritage and culture between Hanoi and Bac Ninh.
To enhance convenience, the train applies a biometric ticket checking system, which will soon be connected to the VNeID electronic identification. Tickets are sold at Hanoi Station and online via the Vietnam Railways website.
