10 year old boy hasn't seen his father in 7 years, meals only have vegetables and finger-sized fish, making MC Dai Nghia cry

As one of the characters in episode 150 of the program Vietnamese Family Home , the situation of Truong Nhat Dinh (2015), a Thai ethnic, 5th grade student at Chau Loc Primary School, Chau Loc Commune, Nghe An Province, makes many people feel sorry. He is currently living with his grandmother, Lo Thi Hien (1971) and his father, Truong Van Minh (1993). Nhat Dinh's mother left when he was 1-2 years old and has not been in contact with him since.

With no mother and a seriously ill father living far away, Nhat Dinh only has his grandmother as the only support in the small house.

His father has end-stage renal failure and has to undergo dialysis three times a week. Due to the long distance, difficulty in traveling, and fear of sudden changes in his condition, Minh often has to stay in the hospital when his condition worsens. On the day the program was recorded, he was still being treated at the Nghe An Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center. According to the sharing, it has been 7 years since Nhat Dinh has seen his father. Since his father's condition worsened, he has only been able to call to ease his longing.

Although the cost of dialysis is free, the family still has to buy a kidney filter at 400,000 VND each. The prolonged treatment has exhausted the family's finances . Since Minh fell ill, all the burden has fallen on Mrs. Hien's shoulders.

The family has no land, so Ms. Hien has to work as a hired worker peeling acacia bark, earning 210,000 VND per day. However, this is seasonal work, while her health is not good, making her income even more precarious.

Nhat Dinh's bowed face at the studio made the atmosphere gloomy, a child who suffered too much trauma too soon.

Life was poor, his father was seriously ill, Nhat Dinh's daily meals were simple with only rice and vegetables. He said: "Occasionally eating rice with fish, with fish sauce was the best dish I had. Grandma would stew two fish, the fish were only as big as two fingers, but I had to eat a little, saving enough for one day. The remaining days I had to go to the garden to dig potatoes to eat ." Therefore, he was severely malnourished. His clothes and books were all given to him by others, he often had to wear old clothes. Nhat Dinh loved his grandmother very much. He always wished he would grow up quickly so he could go to work to earn money to treat his father's illness and take care of his grandmother.

The image of a 10-year-old boy lacking motherly love, sitting and chatting with his father through a small phone, along with the words of concern he gave to his father, made many people feel heartbroken. Seeing Nhat Dinh digging potatoes in the garden to eat, small in stature but knowing how to do many things to help his grandmother, MC Dai Nghia could not hold back his tears.

“Nhat Dinh is 10 years old but he looks like he is only 6-7 years old. He is very thin and does not eat well but he does not blame his grandmother because he feels sorry for her hard work. Hearing him mention a meal with a few tiny braised fish makes me feel sad ,” the male MC shared. He also sent a message to Nhat Dinh’s mother, hoping she would reconsider and return to her son, not letting him suffer any more.

Singers Ngo Lan Huong and Nguyen Thai Hoc enthusiastically participated in the challenges, bringing meaningful rewards to the children.

Singer Ngo Lan Huong was also moved to tears when she learned that Nhat Dinh had not seen his father in person for 7 years. The singer expressed her concern for Minh’s health – the father is battling a serious kidney failure, living far away from his son in extremely difficult circumstances.

For his part, singer Nguyen Thai Hoc was speechless when he saw the boy lacking both material and spiritual things. He admired the hard-working grandmother who, despite her advanced age, still had to earn a living to raise her seriously ill child and take care of her young grandchildren. The singer, born in 2000, gave many words of encouragement and promised to do his best in the challenges to contribute to bringing the prize money to Nhat Dinh and the other characters.

First prize belongs to Truong Nhat Dinh's family.

Truong Khanh Duong's family won second prize.

Nguyen Van Anh's family won third prize.

At the end of the competition, Nguyen Van Anh's family won third prize with a prize of 18 million VND. Truong Khanh Duong's family won second prize, receiving 24 million VND. Truong Nhat Dinh's family won first prize with a total prize of 60 million VND. Thus, the total prize money from Hoa Sen Group awarded to the three families in this episode is 102 million VND.

In addition, artists, philanthropists and local people also joined hands to raise more than 277 million VND to send to the characters in the program.
