GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
Honeycutt, 38, from Michigan, set a Guinness World Record for the longest beard in the world for a woman after deciding to give up her habit of shaving three times a day, The Guardian reported on August 11.
In addition to other symptoms, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) causes hormonal imbalances and can lead to excessive hair growth.
In Honeycutt's case, this condition allowed her to earn the title of the woman with the longest beard in the world without undergoing any hormone therapy.
Honeycutt used every means possible to keep her face smooth after she started growing a beard at the age of 13.
"I probably have to shave at least three times a day," she shared with Guinness World Records, adding that she persistently shaved, bleached, and waxed throughout her teenage years and into adulthood.
However, she recently lost some of her eyesight and started to feel "tired of having to shave all day."
Following the advice of his wife, Jen, Honeycutt decided to grow a beard.
On February 8, 2023, in Caro City (Michigan), she officially set a Guinness World Record with a beard that was then 25.5 cm long, far surpassing the previous record holder, 75-year-old Vivian Wheeler, also an American, whose beard measured 25 cm.
Honeycutt's beard has now grown an additional 30 cm.
Ms. Honeycutt said that living with such a long beard wasn't easy. However, she was also pleased to receive the world record title for something she had previously been ashamed of.
