Slow sales after being accused of selling "dirty meat"
Actual recording at noon on June 4 at GO! Di An Supermarket (Di An City, Binh Duong Province), the display area of CP branded products such as tray-packed pork, sausages, Chinese sausages... is still arranged in the center, fully stocked, some items are applying attractive promotions. Specifically, when buying 1 package of Zing Zing CP sausage 500g, you will get a package of Winner sausage 200g, when buying 1 package of Winner CP sausage 500g, you will get a package of Frank sausage...
Despite the attractive promotions, the number of customers stopping to choose CP products is limited. Many people pass by the counter but only glance at it and then continue to move on to other fresh meat and processed food counters. Products such as sterilized sausages and fresh pork in trays are hardly touched or taken off the shelves.

Meanwhile, at the meat counters of other brands such as Vissan, MEATDeli, Sagrifood, the number of customers coming to view and choose to buy is somewhat higher. Some customers have switched to pork sold by weight at the supermarket's processing area.
The empty stalls continued throughout the afternoon shopping rush, indicating a clear decline in consumer interest in CP products following the recent incident.

Similarly, at a Bach Hoa Xanh supermarket in Binh Thanh district ( Ho Chi Minh City) on the afternoon of June 4, the processed food counter, where CP brand sausages and spring rolls are displayed, still has the same display area as before. However, the products are of little interest to customers.
“Previously, CP sausages sold very well, especially on weekends or when there were promotions. A few dozen packages of sterilized sausages could be sold in a day. But after the incident, sales volume dropped significantly. Some days, only 1-2 packages were sold, and some days, no packages were sold at all,” said Ms. Le Minh Trang, an employee at this supermarket.
Ms. Trang added that although the supermarket has not yet directed to stop selling CP products, the display department has reduced the number of products put on the shelves: "We cannot leave the shelves empty, but we also do not dare to put too many on the shelves, for fear of inventory, and when they expire, we have to destroy them."

Speaking to a reporter from Cong Thuong Newspaper, a representative of Bach Hoa Xanh system said: “Immediately after receiving the feedback, we proactively contacted and worked with the CP Company. The CP side has made a written commitment on the quality of products supplied to the system. However, we are still waiting for the official conclusion from the authorities. During this time, Bach Hoa Xanh continues to closely monitor the developments of the incident, while strengthening control, testing samples and examining the supply of pork to ensure the rights and health of consumers.”
Not only supermarket staff recorded slow sales, consumers also showed clear reservations when asked about CP products.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (35 years old, living in Binh Thanh district) said: “In the past, my family often bought CP sausages for our children to eat for breakfast because they were convenient and easy to preserve. But after the recent incident, I had to stop. No matter what the results of the investigation are, I can no longer completely trust them.”
Currently, Bach Hoa Xanh supermarket chain still sells CP products normally. |
Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Hoa (42 years old, office worker in District 1) shared: “ I do not boycott CP completely, but will consider it more carefully. Before, I often bought CP pork because I thought it was clean, but now I have switched to buying at a familiar stall in the traditional market. Even though there is no big brand, at least the origin is clear and the seller is more responsible.”
Many other consumers also expressed that they will "temporarily stop buying CP products for a while", waiting until everything is clear and there is a clear response from the authorities.
CP's product portfolio in the Vietnamese market
According to research, Vietnam Joint Stock Company is currently providing a variety of food products in the domestic market, from fresh meat, processed foods to frozen seafood. In particular, pork is the product group with the largest proportion, with an output of more than 6.8 million heads per year. Fresh pork products such as belly, lean shoulder, ribs... are distributed in supermarkets, markets and private store systems, with reference prices ranging from 120,000 to 180,000 VND/kg.
Chicken is also a strength of the enterprise, with an output of about 66 million broilers per year, including fresh meat and processed products. In particular, the export factory located in Binh Phuoc has a capacity of up to 50 million chickens/year. CP chicken is currently priced from 100,000 to 150,000 VND/kg, depending on the type.

Despite its smaller scale, CP beef is still present in the product portfolio with high-end segments and serves exports. The company provides both domestically raised and imported beef, with prices ranging from 250,000 to 350,000 VND/kg.
In addition to fresh products, CP also strongly develops the processed food segment, targeting both domestic consumption and export. Each year, the company exports about 20,000 tons of processed food to major markets such as Japan, Australia, China and Europe. Some popular products include fresh sausages 500g/package (price 70,000 - 100,000 VND), traditional pork sausage 300g/package (50,000 - 80,000 VND) and packaged cold cuts 200g/package (40,000 - 60,000 VND).
In addition, the company also trades in seafood such as fresh and frozen tiger prawns (VND200,000 - 300,000/kg), frozen pangasius fillets (VND80,000 - 120,000/kg). Although not the main segment, these products are still distributed in some supermarket chains and food stores.
On June 4, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Official Letter No. 2763/BNNMT-CNTY to the Ministry of Public Security, requesting an investigation and clarification of information circulating on social networks related to the accusation that CP Livestock Joint Stock Company sold diseased pork at the Fresh Shop store in My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province. "In order to promptly reassure consumers and prevent negative impacts on the production and supply chain of livestock and poultry meat, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests the Ministry of Public Security to investigate, verify, and clarify information circulating on social networks and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law (if any) ," the official letter emphasized. Previously, on May 30, 2025, a former employee of CP Company posted on social media with the account "Jonny Lieu" about the CP Fresh Shop store in My Xuyen regularly receiving and selling sick pork and chicken with signs of damage such as red spots, abscesses, pus and foul odor. He said these products were imported from slaughterhouses in Hau Giang and were directed to be sold to the market in Soc Trang. After this information was spread, the authorities inspected CP pork stores in Soc Trang, slaughterhouses in Hau Giang and Soc Trang. Through the inspection, the interdisciplinary team did not discover any damaged products, but recorded some administrative violations such as expired food safety certificates. |
