The patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of extreme fatigue, low blood pressure, severe infection, and life-threatening conditions. Through examination, tests, and imaging, doctors determined that the patient had pyelonephritis with septic shock on a background of end-stage chronic kidney disease.
Immediately after admission, the medical team provided intensive resuscitation, administered vasopressors and antibiotics, and performed emergency surgery to insert a JJ stent to relieve urinary tract obstruction, drain urine, and control the infection.
Following the intervention, the patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit - Toxicology - Hemodialysis Department for continued treatment and close monitoring. The patient's condition remains serious.
According to doctors, pyelonephritis is a dangerous infectious complication of the urinary system, commonly seen in people with kidney stones, ureteral stones, ureteral strictures, or chronic urinary tract diseases. If not detected and treated early, bacteria can enter the bloodstream, causing septic shock, multi-organ failure, and a high risk of death.
Experts advise people to seek medical attention early if they experience symptoms such as lower back pain, high fever with chills, painful urination, decreased urination, cloudy urine, excessive fatigue, low blood pressure, edema, or prolonged shortness of breath. Individuals with a history of urinary stones or chronic kidney disease should have regular checkups to detect and prevent dangerous complications early.
