Dr. Vu Tien Loc was born on January 1, 1960, in Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province.
Throughout his time as a Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr. Loc is considered to have left many significant marks on the parliamentary arena and on the development of the business community, as well as on improving the legal environment, the investment and business environment, and Vietnam's integration into the global economy.
He also directly participated in promoting the implementation of free trade agreements and chaired many major national-level trade and investment promotion activities, contributing to bringing foreign investment projects into Vietnam and boosting Vietnam's exports abroad, guiding and supporting Vietnamese businesses and business associations in international integration.
From 2003 to 2016, he held the positions of Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnamese Business Associations, Member of the National Assembly for the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Member of the Economic and Budget Committee of the National Assembly for the 11th term; Member of the Economic Committee of the National Assembly for the 12th and 13th terms; Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 6th, 7th, and 8th terms; Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council on Administrative Procedure Reform of the Prime Minister; Chairman of the Vietnam Pacific Economic Cooperation Committee (VN PECC); and Chairman of the ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
From 2016 to 2021, he held the positions of Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); President of the Central Council of Vietnamese Business Associations; Member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee; Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Vice President of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Enhancement; Vice President of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council on Administrative Procedure Reform; President of the Asia-Pacific Business Advisory Council of Vietnam (ABAC); and Member of the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (WCF).
From July 2021 to the present, Mr. Vu Tien Loc has been a Member of the 15th National Assembly and a member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee. Since September 2021, he has assumed the position of Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC).
The CPTPP will bring opportunities for increased profits for businesses, more jobs, and improved living standards for the people, but it also creates many risks that cause endless worry.
