On the morning of December 20th, the leaders of the Tuy An Nam commune police announced that their unit had just received an object suspected to be an artillery shell, which was handed over by a local resident.
Initial examination revealed the object resembled a 105mm artillery shell and had its fuse intact.
Earlier, at around 4:40 PM on December 19th, while working in the hilly area of Phu Thanh village, Mr. TMD (28 years old, residing in Phu Thanh village) discovered a strange object suspected to be an artillery shell lying exposed. Concerned about its potential danger, Mr. D. placed the object on his motorbike and drove straight to the commune police station to hand it over.

The image shows artillery shells that Mr. D. placed in front of his motorbike before handing them over.
Immediately after receiving the items, the Tuy An Nam commune police proceeded to draw up a report, seal the objects, and report to their superiors to coordinate with specialized forces for handling according to regulations. At the same time, the police also disseminated information, reminded, and guided Mr. D. and other residents in the area that when they discover objects suspected to be bombs, mines, or unexploded ordnance left over from the war, they must absolutely not touch, move, or carry them, but should quickly report it to the local authorities or relevant agencies for handling.
According to initial assessments by authorities, the object is suspected to be a 105mm artillery shell, a leftover from the war. This is a dangerous explosive device that, despite its age, could still detonate at any time if subjected to strong impact.
Currently, the Tuy An Nam commune police are coordinating with relevant units to continue verifying and handling the case, while also strengthening propaganda to raise public awareness in detecting, reporting, and preventing accidents caused by unexploded ordnance left over from the war.
