Mr. Pham Minh Nhut, Vice President of Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said that through information from some hotels , the number of guests booking rooms has increased but not dramatically. This is largely due to transportation costs, especially the high price of airfares for domestic routes in general and routes to Khanh Hoa in particular.
Tourists arriving at Cam Ranh International Airport
According to a survey on online airline ticket sales sites, from April 28 to May 3, ticket prices on many routes jumped, with some routes being double or triple the price of normal days.
Specifically, a round-trip flight from Hanoi to Cam Ranh by Vietnam Airlines on April 29 and the return flight on May 3 costs more than 7 million VND; Vietjet costs about 7 million VND and Bamboo costs about 6.5 million VND.
According to statistics from Cam Ranh International Airport, from April 27 to May 3, there are expected to be 397 domestic flights to Khanh Hoa, an increase of 13% over the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, the number of international flights to Khanh Hoa is expected to be about 166 (an increase of about 3%).
Mr. Vo Quang Hoang, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Hotel Association, acknowledged that although the number of flights to Khanh Hoa has increased slightly compared to the same period, it is still insignificant compared to the fact that workers have 5 consecutive days off during the holiday.
According to Mr. Hoang, due to the high price of air tickets, many tourists in groups have postponed their plans to visit Khanh Hoa during this time. In particular, visitors from the northern provinces are forecast to decrease significantly. Therefore, the local tourism industry expects individual groups of tourists, families or friends.
According to a survey, up to now, the number of guests booking rooms for the April 30 - May 1 holiday in Khanh Hoa has reached about 50% capacity. Some hotels with beautiful locations have reached about 70% capacity.
"The main source of visitors is domestic, while international visitors to Khanh Hoa are currently very limited, mostly Korean visitors. Khanh Hoa tourism is still relying on Chinese visitors, but for many different reasons, visitors from this country to Khanh Hoa are still very few," said Mr. Hoang.
Nha Trang beach city is worried about the lack of tourists during the holidays.
Ms. Hang, manager of a hotel on Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang City, said that although the number of guests booking rooms at the moment is not as high as expected, the trend of traveling with family and groups of friends by private car from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Dak Lak, Lam Dong... is likely to increase near the holidays.
"Airfares are too high, so families or groups of friends often use personal cars or motorbikes to travel during this time to save money and also be able to go to more places," said Ms. Hang.
Khanh Hoa province has 55,000 rooms in 1,169 accommodation establishments.
During the upcoming holiday, if tourists encounter problems while traveling in Khanh Hoa, they can call the hotline (24/7) 0947.528.000, prefix *2258 or go to the Tourist Support stations on Tran Phu Street for guidance and to report pressing issues.
