The musical "Fire from the Earth" is an artistic work produced by the Youth Theatre in collaboration with the Hanoi City Party Committee and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi City Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025).

The work had two successful performances in March 2025, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), "Fire from the Earth" will return to Hanoi audiences on the evening of April 26, 2025.

The musical "Fire from the Earth" is an epic about Hanoi in the 1930s, about young people who sacrificed their youth and personal happiness to follow revolutionary ideals. The performance recreates the life and revolutionary career of Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu – the first official Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, depicting his journey from a steadfast soldier who matured during the resistance war to a capable and intelligent leader who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to building the capital and the country.

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu was born in 1908 in Hanoi and joined the revolution at a very young age. In 1929, he joined the Indochinese Communist Party and participated in the Northern Regional Committee. By June 1930, he officially held the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee. In December 1930, he was arrested by the French colonialists and subjected to brutal torture at Hoa Lo Prison. Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Vu died in early 1932, at the young age of nearly 24. Although his revolutionary life was not long, it was closely linked to very vibrant activities of great importance at crucial turning points in the nation's history. He is a prime example of patriotism, an indomitable fighting spirit, and a willingness to sacrifice for the ideal of independence, freedom, and national liberation.

The musical "Fire from the Earth" features prominent figures in Vietnamese music, dance, and theater, possessing the ability to act, sing, and dance simultaneously, such as Lê Việt Anh, Trần Việt, Trung Hiếu, Dương Minh Anh, and Phạm Văn Thọ. Notably, the performance includes the role of Meritorious Artist Thanh Tâm, portraying Mrs. Đàm Thị – the mother of Comrade Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ. The work also features two talented young artists from the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre: Đình Khánh as Ông Toản – the father of Comrade Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ, and Bùi Trang as Thúy – the girlfriend of Comrade Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ.

The musical "Fire from the Earth" is an epic of faith, love for the homeland, and the aspiration for peace of generations of ancestors who dedicated their youth, passion, and lives to the ideal of independence and freedom. The work has contributed and continues to contribute to spreading the revolutionary spirit, fostering national pride, and inspiring generations of Vietnamese people, especially the young generation of today and tomorrow.
