This week's Night Story with the Stars brings a special guest - musician Nguyen Van Chung, author of a series of hit songs, from love songs to children's songs and now songs with sacred melodies about homeland and country.
Musician Nguyen Van Chung started his music career in 2003. He owns a huge "fortune" of more than 600 songs with diverse themes, including many widely loved hits such as Warm Wind Scarf, Crying Moon, Mother's Diary, Cold Winter... Creating good songs not only embellishes his career, but also builds the reputation of many singers such as: Khanh Phuong, Bao Thy, Nhat Tinh Anh, Duyen Quynh,...
Besides pop music, Nguyen Van Chung also left his mark with more than 300 children's songs and many songs about homeland and country.
2025 is the year that musician Nguyen Van Chung may “become a musician for the rest of his life” when many of his compositions appear on two important occasions of the country. Among them, the song “Writing the next story of peace” left a deep impression when it was performed on the 30/4 Grand Ceremony and also appeared on the high school Literature exam.
Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, Nguyen Van Chung said: “I did not write this song to become a hit like my previous songs. I simply wanted to express my deep gratitude when standing in the sacred places of the Fatherland, before the great sacrifice of our ancestors. I wrote with real emotions, and fortunately, those emotions touched the hearts of the audience.”
He said he started writing the song “Continuing the Peace Story” after field trips to historical sites that hold the nation’s heroic memories. The emotions from standing in front of the memorials and listening to the veterans’ stories shaped each melody and each lyric in the song. “When the emotions are full, the music flows by itself,” he said.
After its release in November 2023, the song was performed by singer Duyen Quynh everywhere, from stages without lights or LED screens, to performances dedicated to soldiers, students, and pupils. Later, the song spread even more strongly when it was remixed by a young producer and released on social networks, creating a wave of emotional patriotism among young people. Not only entertaining, the song is also highly appreciated for its educational and inspirational value.
“When I saw that the song was loved not only by young people, but also by veterans, soldiers, police, and even high-ranking leaders, I felt not only happy but also honored. In particular, this song is not specifically for children, but is still loved by them. That makes me extremely happy,” he expressed.
Nguyen Van Chung's musical journey can be likened to a life diary, each stage has its own color. He once made millions of young people sob with love songs, then became a name associated with the childhood of many generations of children with more than 300 songs. Now, when writing about the country, he not only brings with him experiences, but also conveys maturity in thinking and emotions.
He confided: “When I was young, I wrote about love between couples. When I grew up, I wrote about mothers and fathers. When I had children, I wrote about children. And now, when my parents have fulfilled their roles and my children have grown up, I want to do something more meaningful for the country. My music is always accompanied by real emotions.”
Despite his resounding success, musician Nguyen Van Chung still maintains a very humble and pure spirit in his creations: "If I succeed, that's good, if not, I'm still happy because I did it with all my heart."
For Nguyen Van Chung, music is not only a passion, but also a way of life, a way for him to convey emotions and spread good values. The motto he has kept in his heart for many years is encapsulated in one word: Self - "Self, self-reliance, self-study, self-do, self-respect, self-esteem, self-confidence". Because for him, everything sustainable starts from within each person. Currently, he is continuing to nurture a new music project, a collection of songs with healing messages, written during a time when he was overcoming personal crises.
"Nighttime Stories with Stars" airs at 9:50 p.m. every Wednesday on THVL1 channel.
