By incorporating Quan Ho folk singing into the "Ly Bac Bo" performance, music producer DTAP and Phuong My Chi presented a complete, emotional, and modern portrayal of Vietnamese culture on the international stage.
Reaching the world
Sharing his thoughts on choosing the song "Ly Bac Bo" for Phuong My Chi to perform, music producer DTAP said: "Phuong My Chi possesses a maturity in 'feeling' folk music and a balance between technique and emotion. Therefore, Phuong My Chi has conveyed the simple messages of Vietnamese culture to international audiences in an impressive way."
According to DTAP, the choice of this material was not simply for musical reasons, but also stemmed from a desire to convey the spirit of Vietnam through a form of intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. "Music is not just for listening, but also for telling stories, connecting, and preserving Vietnamese identity," DTAP stated.
In recent years, Vietnamese music has shown significant progress on its journey to integration with the international market. From songs reaching hundreds of millions of views on digital platforms to Vietnamese artists being honored on international stages, and Vietnamese songs trending globally, all of this is creating a belief that Vietnamese music is fully capable of reaching the world stage.

The song "It's Okay" has garnered over a billion views on TikTok and has been embraced by international stars. Before "It's Okay," many other songs had also gained global attention on social media, such as "Si Tình" by Hoàng Thùy Linh, "Vũ Trụ Có Anh" by Phương Mỹ Chi, "Hai phút hơn" by rapper Pháo, and "Dễ Đến Dễ Đi" by Quang Hùng MasterD…
The voice of music
For Vietnamese music to truly be recognized by the world as a creative artistic value, beyond fleeting trends, we need a long journey—a journey steadfast in our musical identity, yet flexible enough to integrate. And that journey is being ignited by young artists who dare to combine traditional essence with contemporary flair. They are not simply performers, but also representatives of Vietnamese musical culture in the eyes of the international community.
Recently, singer Tung Duong was honored at the "Music Awards Japan" ceremony for his independent artistic style and strong cultural identity. Vietnamese music is demonstrating its strong potential to rise on the global cultural map. We now have a new generation of artists who possess not only talent and musical individuality but also cultural acumen, an integrated mindset, and a long-term creative strategy.
This is a generation growing up with digital platforms, knowledgeable about the international market but still rooted in traditional values. A generation that may not be flashy but possesses the inner strength to ensure that Vietnamese music not only resonates but also remains in the hearts of global audiences. Musician Quoc Trung observes: "The prospect of Vietnamese music reaching the world is entirely feasible, if there are quality products, artists with long-term vision, and a creative, open artistic environment."
Music is a powerful and emotional cultural bridge; every Vietnamese song that gains popularity worldwide is an opportunity for Vietnamese identity to resonate on a global stage.
