Mipig Café with its tiny pigs is becoming a place that attracts the attention of local people as well as international tourists when coming to Japan.

Mipig Café is located in the bustling Harajuku district of Tokyo. Here, visitors will have the opportunity to see and play with cute little pigs, about the size of corgis, running around and occasionally making cute sniffling sounds. All of these pigs are clean, fragrant and quite affectionate.

The cost for 30 minutes of play at “Mipig Café” is 2,200 yen (equivalent to 15 USD) and customers need to make a reservation in advance.

Customers can also own a pig that has been thoroughly trained in lifestyle, such as going to the toilet in the right place or communicating friendly with humans..., for a price of about 200,000 yen (1,350 USD)/pig.

Mipig Café says it has sold 1,300 of these pigs.

Despite not investing in advertising, Mipig Café still attracts a large number of foreign tourists thanks to posts on Instagram and many other social networking platforms.

Mipig Café is one of 10 pet pig cafes opening across Japan. The chain's owners opened their first store in Tokyo in 2019 and plan to open two more locations by the end of the year.

Dr. Bruce Kornreich, who works at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University (USA), said that interacting with animals brings many benefits to humans, helping to reduce symptoms of diseases related to blood pressure, headaches and the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Pets can also make people feel more relaxed, happier and effectively relieve stress./.
