This year, besides fresh pine trees and fresh pine branches imported from Denmark or Kunming (China) which are expensive and quite picky, many people are looking to buy fragrant pine trees with cool green color, characteristic fragrance, easy care, and long-lasting preservation.
While choosing a pine tree to decorate the family space at a garden house in Nghi An commune, Ms. Tuyet Mai, a customer, said: “My family is not Catholic but we have small children. Christmas is an occasion to decorate the house, bringing a new, warm space to the family, so I chose to buy a medium-sized pine tree to decorate. The price of this 1.2m high pine tree with accessories is only over 1 million VND. Compared to fresh Danish pine, it is very cheap and compared to plastic pine, this pine tree is much more meaningful.”

Mr. Le Van Khang, owner of Ca Garden Green Garden in Nghi An commune (Vinh city) said: “This year, grasping people's tastes, since mid-November, we have imported pine trees of all sizes. From small table-sized trees to large trees up to 2m high. Prices also range from 90,000 VND - 2 million VND/tree (depending on the type). It is estimated that during Christmas this year, our garden will sell about 1,000 pine trees of all kinds.”
According to Mr. Khang, this type of pine is imported from Da Lat, has a round canopy, good top and smells of essential oils, repels mosquitoes so it is very popular. The price is cheaper than fresh Danish pine or resin pine, and is suitable for the taste of "green consumption".

Having been in the business of importing fresh pine branches and cypress trees for 3 years, this year, when the price of Danish pine branches increased, Ms. Tu Dung (Ngo Gia Tu Street, Quan Bau Ward, Vinh City) switched to selling cypress trees.
Ms. Dung said that this year, pine trees of different sizes are also very popular. Especially the small trees of 60-80cm in size, decorated with dry bark, bells, pearls, pine cones... are sold for 80,000-100,000 VND, suitable for decorating desks, bedrooms, and family spaces. In just the past half month, she has sold about 300 pine trees of different sizes.

At the same time, Ms. Tu Dung also arranged and decorated the sales point into a space filled with Christmas atmosphere for customers to come and take pictures. Ms. Tu Dung said: “The first year we opened this service, it was very popular. Because we don’t have to go far to have a beautiful photo album, the Christmas space is filled with people, both sightseeing and taking pictures to post on social networks, and preserving beautiful moments. Meanwhile, the price is very reasonable. From November 22 to now, it is estimated that about 500 customers have come to visit and take pictures.”

Catching this trend, coffee shops have also decorated Christmas spaces with bright colors to attract customers to experience. There are places where customers can enjoy drinks for free; there are places where customers have to pay a fee to take photos at a price of 20,000-50,000 VND/time (depending on the customer's request to hire an additional photographer or other accessories).
In addition to photography services, Christmas shops also organize workshops to guide participants in making Christmas items with a variety of activities. For example: Making Christmas trees from velvet; making laurel wreaths; making Christmas greeting cards; making cookies with Christmas motifs... attracting a lot of children and young people to participate.

“Making a Christmas product yourself as a reward for yourself or as a gift for friends and relatives is very meaningful. Meanwhile, the cost of the learning materials is not too much, only about 150,000 - 250,000 VND/session depending on the specific service”, said Phuong Trang, a participant in the tutorial on making a velvet pine tree at a shop on Vo Thi Sau Street (Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City).
