In the sturdy 80-square-meter house, still smelling of fresh paint, the cheerful laughter and chatter of Ms. Deo Thi Hien's family in Dua village, Chieng So commune, dispels the biting cold of winter. Ms. Hien couldn't hide her emotion as she recalled the terrifying night at the end of July 2025. She reminisced: "When the flood came, my children and I only had time to run to my cousin's house for shelter, narrowly escaping being swept away by the raging water. The flood destroyed our entire house and possessions, forcing our family to seek temporary shelter. Thanks to government assistance, the soldiers' labor, government loans, and the help of relatives, my family was able to rebuild our sturdy house just before the New Year. Having a new house not only provides a stable place to live but also motivates me to work with peace of mind and stabilize my life."

After saying goodbye to Ms. Hien's family, we continued our visit to the spacious 60m² prefabricated house of Mr. Leo Van Dan, also in Dua village. Just a few months ago, the area was in ruins due to a landslide. However, with a spirit of rapid construction, in just 20 days, the soldiers and neighbors worked together to rebuild the house. The project was completed before the New Year, helping Mr. Dan's family settle down and stabilize their lives. Mr. Dan shared: "It's been almost two months since we moved into our new house, and my family is very happy. The timely support from the State and the army, as well as charitable organizations providing essential supplies and production support, has given my family the motivation to focus on production and stabilize our lives."
Racing against time, overcoming difficulties, and braving unpredictable weather, the housing reconstruction project in Chiềng Sơ commune reached its goal in just three months of rapid construction. In addition to resources from the Provincial Relief Campaign Committee, which provided 100 million VND per household for 35 new constructions and 30 million VND per household for 31 repairs, totaling over 4.4 billion VND, hundreds of officers and soldiers from Military Region II, the Provincial Military Command, and local political and social organizations contributed thousands of man-days, directly undertaking land leveling, material transportation, and house construction. The result of this effort is the completion and handover of 66 new and repaired houses before the New Year. These houses are not only sturdy and safe, but also designed in harmony with the lifestyle and cultural customs of the local people, helping them to settle into their new lives quickly.

Ms. Lo Lan Phuong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Chieng So Commune, shared: "Before the New Year, the locality completed the goal of providing housing support to 100% of households affected by landslides, successfully relocating all residents from landslide-prone areas. This Tet holiday, people can reunite in their new, safe, and warm homes. The areas of rice fields that were buried under landslides have now been reclaimed, reforested, and agricultural production has increased thanks to timely livelihood support from the State. With the motto 'leaving no one behind,' the commune is stepping up social welfare activities, visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families and households affected by natural disasters to ensure that every family has a fulfilling and complete Tet holiday."
Chieng So is bursting with new life. Green has returned to the gardens, new roofs have been built, and with timely livelihood support, all of this gives the people of Chieng So renewed strength to joyfully welcome the new year full of hope.
