The paths connecting "the Party's will"

Visiting the former communes of Minh Phu, Vu Quang, and Chan Mong, now merged into Chan Mong commune in Doan Hung district, at a time when the whole country is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, traveling on the roads connecting "the Party's will and the people's hearts," we felt the space bursting with a new appearance and vitality. The dusty, muddy dirt roads of the past have now been paved with smooth concrete, facilitating travel for the people and contributing to the socio -economic development of the locality.

The 2.4km-long road in areas 8 and 9, with one main branch and five secondary branches connecting to Tram Than commune, Phu Ninh district and vice versa, has completed land clearance and is awaiting completion and handover for use in June of this year. To build this road, 59 households living along the roads in the residential area voluntarily donated more than 4,170m2 of land with a total value of hundreds of millions of VND.

As one of the exemplary families who volunteered in the local land donation movement for road construction, Mr. Dang Ngoc Truong – from Zone 8, former Minh Phu commune – shared: “Understanding that building roads meets the transportation needs both now and in the future, as soon as the commune and zone called for donations, my whole family quickly agreed to donate more than 1,000 square meters of garden and residential land. We also cleared the fence and trees in front of our house for the commune to begin construction. Later, when the road is completed, our lives will certainly improve, and we will have more opportunities to trade goods and develop the economy.”

Over the years, the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas in the former Minh Phu, Vu Quang, and Chan Mong communes has been actively supported by the people and has become a widespread movement. To build roads connecting "the Party's will and the people's hearts," the local authorities have mobilized the people with the motto "The State and the People work together," in which cadres and Party members play a key role, acting as a bridge between the Party Committee, the government, and the people, creating unity and consensus throughout the implementation process. From 2023 to the present, in the three communes (now Chan Mong), 345 households have voluntarily donated 12,755 square meters of land for road construction. This includes 1,500 square meters of residential land and 11,255 square meters of garden land. As a result, 15 new roads have been built, implemented, and upgraded with a total cost of over 35 billion VND, contributing to improving the lives of the people and creating conditions for strengthening cultural exchange between regions in the district.

The leaders of Chan Mong commune are promoting and encouraging the people to donate land for road construction as part of the New Rural Development program.

Leading us on a tour of some key local roads currently under construction with strong support from the people, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chan Mong Commune, said: “With the involvement of the entire political system and the unanimous support of the people under the motto 'The State and the People work together,' the movement of donating land for road construction in the locality has created a strong ripple effect, enhancing the beautiful image of the spirit of community responsibility and solidarity of the people in accelerating the progress of building new rural areas in the locality. Thanks to this, the percentage of hardened roads in the commune has now reached 86.7%, the road system in alleys and residential areas has reached 94%; 100% of the roads leading to the commune center have been concreted, making them bright, green, clean, and beautiful, contributing to convenient travel and trade for the people and strengthening cultural exchange between regions in the district.”

Leaving Chan Mong on the wide, smooth, clean concrete roads with complete drainage systems and streetlights, one can see how the Party and State's policies are in line with the people's aspirations. These roads connecting "the Party's will and the people's hearts" are being extended and widened by the spirit of great unity, not only gradually bringing a more prosperous and fulfilling life to the people but also transforming the rural landscape of the locality, contributing to the impetus for the people to develop the economy and rise to prosperity.
