People's homes become polling stations.
A sudden late afternoon rain poured down, but traffic on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, specifically the section passing through Phu Hoa 9 neighborhood in Phu Loi ward, remained bustling. Prominent on the street was the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong (born in 1952), with a red banner hanging in front of the gate bearing the prominent gold lettering: “Election of National Assembly Deputies for the 16th term and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term - Polling Station No. 14”. On either side of the gate, colorful flags, banners, and billboards created a solemn atmosphere, ready for the great national event.
Inside the house, Mr. and Mrs. Chuong were carrying the bulletin board listing the candidates and the voter list into the covered area of their yard to protect it from the sudden rain. On March 15th, the spacious yard in front of their house will become a bustling place where voters come and go to exercise their rights and civic duties.
Mr. Chuong's family lent their yard space to the local authorities to set up a polling station. For several days now, he has been regularly checking the posted notices, banners, and posters, ensuring everything is carefully maintained before election day. With a land area of approximately 3,000 square meters , and a frontage of over 50 meters along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, the space is quite convenient for setting up a polling station.
Just inside the gate, a spacious courtyard of about 40 square meters has been set up with a tent for voters to rest and park their vehicles. Furthermore, Mr. Chuong has lent the ward an additional kiosk next to his house, approximately 25 square meters, to be used as a private polling booth. From the courtyard to the polling booth area, everything is gradually being completed to be ready to serve the voters.

Mr. Chuong said that he previously served as the Head of the Neighborhood Management Board, and later as the Secretary of the Neighborhood Party Branch. He officially retired in 2017, but he remains interested in local activities. "My family is very happy to contribute a small part to this national event," Mr. Chuong shared.
Let's work together to prepare for the festival.
In An Phu ward, 11 households also dedicated their yards to serve as polling stations. Along the bustling 22-12 street, the nearly 100m2 yard of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh's family was chosen as the polling station for neighborhood 4. Ms. Trinh is also the head of Polling Station No. 24. She and her family members busied themselves cleaning the yard, checking the electricity, water, and toilet systems to serve voters on election day. The list of candidates and voters was placed in an easily visible location right in the yard.
According to Ms. Trinh, the polling station at her family's home is expected to serve approximately 2,500 voters, the majority of whom are workers and temporary residents in nearby lodgings. On the afternoon of March 8th, in her role as head of the polling station, Ms. Trinh held a meeting with 18 members to assign specific tasks.
"We also prepared contingency plans, such as voters forgetting the polling location, not knowing the election date, or experiencing health issues," Ms. Trinh said.
In Phuoc Thang ward, preparations for election day are being urgently completed. In neighborhood 10, a polling station has been set up right in front of Mr. Pham Van Khoi's house. This area has been equipped with a spacious roof, and includes a ballot distribution table, a ballot filling area, ballot boxes, and a voter registration check table. Thanks to its convenient location, this site is considered suitable for voters in the neighborhood to exercise their right to vote.
The polling station also prepared backup generators to ensure that voting would not be interrupted. Mr. Pham Van Khoi said this was the third time his family's house had been chosen as a polling station. "In the past few days, we and the polling station have cleaned and decorated our yard to make it convenient for people to come and vote," Mr. Khoi shared.
* Mr. PHAN CONG KHANH , Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Loi Ward:
The 36 polling stations were arranged according to the characteristics of the local population.
To facilitate voters on election day, Phu Loi ward proactively arranged 36 polling stations tailored to the characteristics of its population, including 3 located in private homes. These special polling stations made it more convenient for voters, especially those living in rented accommodations, to travel to the polling stations. In addition, the local authorities received the consensus and active support of the people in preparing the locations, cleaning up the environment, and decorating the polling areas, contributing to a solemn, safe, and compliant election day.
* Mr. NGUYEN VIET DUNG , Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Thang Ward:
Facilitating voter participation in elections.
Nearly 52,000 voters in the ward participated in the election of National Assembly representatives and People's Council representatives at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City. The locality arranged 32 polling stations in residential areas, including 29 stations at agency headquarters, schools, and neighborhoods, and 3 stations at private homes. Despite being held at private homes, all preparations were carried out seriously according to regulations, from facilities and decorations to the assignment of service personnel, ensuring that voters could exercise their right to vote conveniently and safely.
