After graduating with a degree in Finance in Australia in 2016, Mr. Nguyen Doan San returned to Vietnam to take over his family's company, San Ha Co., Ltd., which has a history of over 30 years of development, as Deputy General Director.

San Ha is a company specializing in the production and trading of fresh and frozen poultry and waterfowl products, as well as various processed foods. Currently, the company has nearly 2,000 employees, 4 poultry meat processing plants, 1 food processing plant, livestock farms, 50 retail stores, and a nationwide trading system. Each year, San Ha's farm system supplies more than 30 million poultry to the safe food supply chain.

According to Mr. Nguyen Doan San, the company's strength lies in its integrated food supply chain, from farm and factory to consumer. Operating under a closed-loop model not only allows the company to proactively secure its supply but also ensures a more hygienic and safe food production process, with products of clear origin and guaranteed quality according to specific standards.

Speaking about his career path, Nguyen Doan San said that he is embarking on a career in business management as a responsibility to continue the family business rather than out of passion. However, after a period of working at San Ha, he gradually grew to love his job. Through business, the young man feels he is becoming more mature and confident every day.

Nevertheless, the business world is always competitive, and Nguyen Doan San sees both opportunities and challenges awaiting him. However, he has a rather optimistic view of the current business environment, believing that competition in the marketplace is becoming healthier, more transparent, and broader. If entrepreneurs have the courage, they can elevate their products to an international level and integrate globally. This is the right time for young entrepreneurs to venture into this field.

According to Mr. Nguyen Doan San, young people like him need to be confident, dare to think, and dare to act in order to apply knowledge to the production and business process in line with trends suitable for the integrated environment and the development of information technology.

Besides the advantages, Mr. Nguyen Doan San also frankly acknowledges the shortcomings of young people, namely their "very large ego." Therefore, in his work, he always reminds himself to be calm, careful, humble, and open to learning. One of the skills he believes business leaders should focus on is listening. In difficult times, he often learns to be silent. Silence allows him time to think, to listen, especially to those with more experience and knowledge than himself.

Mr. Nguyen Doan San shared: “I was born into a family with a business tradition, so when I need advice, I often go back home. At the same time, I also seek out other entrepreneurs to get different perspectives. San Ha Company and I are fortunate to be members of large, reputable business associations and organizations, so we can learn from many people.”

Success through innovative startup ideas.

Having worked in the banking industry for 10 years, in 2019, Ms. Duong Thi Truc Giang (My Phu commune, Thu Thua district, Long An province) decided to quit her job and start a business with her husband, producing oil-free dried fruit. Her husband is a mechanical engineer, so he built the machinery himself. Seeing farmers struggling to export dragon fruit, he came up with the idea of ​​processing agricultural products to preserve them for longer. Thus, the couple established a company producing dried dragon fruit. In 2019, HG Food Joint Stock Company was founded.

Ms. Duong Thi Truc Giang shared: "The first difficulty when starting the business was that neither my husband nor I were business people; we had no prior experience in trading or manufacturing goods. Everything was learned as we went along. The company's first product was crispy dried dragon fruit. Because it was a new product, it was difficult to compete with existing products. However, the company was fortunate to receive support from provincial departments and agencies through investment promotion programs. From there, the company gradually established its brand and product quality, leading to a continuous increase in orders."

"For a business to thrive, product quality is paramount. As people's living standards improve, everyone is paying more attention to their health, and products that are good for health will attract more attention," affirmed Ms. Duong Thi Truc Giang.

To produce high-quality, 100% natural products, the company is very selective about its raw materials, using only top-grade, premium dragon fruit. Besides ensuring a reliable source of raw materials, HG Food Joint Stock Company's products are manufactured using modern technology and equipment, preserving the full nutritional value, color, and flavor of fresh fruit. This is both an advantage and a limitation, as it results in a higher price, making it difficult to compete with similar products.

Following its success with dried dragon fruit, HG Food Joint Stock Company continued its research to bring to market other dried fruit products such as jackfruit, banana, pineapple, coconut, and mango.

In 2021, all HG oil-free crispy dried fruit products were recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level; HG oil-free crispy dried dragon fruit achieved a 4-star OCOP product rating. In 2022, the company was ranked among the Top 100 international quality gold brands; and was assessed and found to meet the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015.

In 2023, the company's products were recognized as outstanding national rural industrial products. Currently, the company has achieved ISO 22000 certification. The company's products are now not only sold in many provinces and cities nationwide but are also exported to some demanding markets such as the US and Europe.

The idea of ​​oil-free, crispy dried fruit contributes a small part to finding outlets for local agricultural products. Ms. Duong Thi Truc Giang and her husband have helped many farmers in the province stabilize their agricultural product sales, preventing price manipulation. In addition, the company's products contribute to elevating the status of Vietnamese agricultural products, making them competitive in the global market.
