Most recently, at the end of April 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a Decision approving the investment plan for the Can Gio International Transshipment Port project to the joint venture of Saigon Port Corporation and Terminal Investment Limited Holding SA (part of MSC - the world's largest container shipping group).

The project is a special-grade maritime project with an investment scale of up to 128,000 billion VND (nearly 5 billion USD). In phase 1, the project involves the development of a port approximately 7 km long on an area of ​​571 hectares.

The Can Gio International Transshipment Port project is strategically located on an international shipping route, with a designed capacity of up to 16.9 million TEU. The project is a key step in helping Vietnam integrate further into international logistics and global supply chains.

Meanwhile, the Ben Thanh - Can Gio high-speed railway line broke ground in December 2025. This railway line, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028, will shorten travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to just 13 minutes.

The Can Gio Bridge is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2029, breaking the decades-long reliance on ferries to cross the river and shortening travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio from over 2 hours to approximately 40-50 minutes.

At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City has agreed in principle to invest in the Can Gio - Vung Tau sea route, opening up a connection between the two major development hubs in the South in just 10 minutes of travel.

At the heart of this network lies the Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio mega-urban development, planned as the nucleus to activate a new tourism and economic hub in the South of Ho Chi Minh City.
