(TNO) On December 25, Dak Nong Provincial General Hospital announced that it had just admitted and treated four patients with severe burns caused by a mini gas cylinder explosion.
The victims included: Nguyen Trong Ky (17 years old), Le Duc Hiep (18 years old), Dinh Minh Sang (17 years old, all 12th grade students at Truong Chinh High School, Dak Lap district, Dak Nong province) and Huynh Thi Hoai Mo (16 years old, owner of a roadside street vendor cart).
According to the victims' accounts, at around 9 PM on December 24th, Sang, Ky, and Hiep went out to celebrate Christmas together. When they reached a section of road near Gia Nghia bridge, the group stopped their vehicles and went to the roadside to buy food from Hoai Mo, who was pushing a cart selling fried beef meatballs. While waiting, a mini gas cylinder from the cart suddenly exploded, injuring all four people and shattering the cart's contents and glass.
Immediately afterwards, Sang shouted for help, and several people came to assist in getting a taxi to take all four to the hospital. According to doctors, the explosion caused Hiep and Mo to suffer first- and second-degree burns to 19% of their faces, with their skin and hair burned and peeling off. Sang and Ky suffered multiple injuries, with 9% of their faces burned, and are continuing to receive treatment.
Reportedly, the mini gas cylinder that Mơ had just bought and exchanged at a dealer in Gia Nghĩa market exploded when she brought it home to use.
