Efforts to bring OCOP products to a wider market.

Việt NamViệt Nam03/10/2023

Recently, Binh Thuan province in general and Tanh Linh district in particular have been making efforts to support businesses participating in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) product exhibition at trade fairs. Furthermore, they are coordinating the organization of conferences to connect OCOP products with distribution systems, enabling OCOP products to continuously expand their reach to the market.

Focus on developing new products.

In a predominantly agricultural area like Tánh Linh district, the OCOP program is implemented with the aim of shifting the economic structure and restructuring the agricultural sector. This aims to develop the rural economy and improve the income and living standards of the people. Over the years, the local authorities have consistently focused on providing support services to farmers, including information, brand building, and agricultural product marketing.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tanh Linh district, in 2023, the locality has been reviewing and guiding businesses registering products to participate in the 2023 program, focusing on both developing new products and upgrading existing ones. The focus is on avoiding quantity and prioritizing market demand. Simultaneously, the program aims to limit the production of raw, unprocessed, and unprocessed products, as well as fresh produce. Along with that, the locality is developing raw material areas to expand production, participating in cooperation and linkages along the product value chain, producing goods using new technologies and advanced production standards such as GlobalGAP, Organic, GMP, HACCP, ISO... One of the promotional activities in recent times is the district's invitation to businesses to link production and consumption of products from Dai Nhat Phat Production & Trading Co., Ltd., Cong Thanh Cooperative - Duc Linh. Through the linkage bridge of cooperatives and cooperative groups, businesses have invested in seeds, fertilizers and purchased products from farmers at market prices. As a result, the average income of farmers in the area has increased by 10-20% compared to areas producing conventional rice. In addition, after establishing and consolidating operations, Lac Tanh Agricultural Service Cooperative and Duc Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative have proactively produced organic rice in linkage with Duc Lan facility, using the "Tanh Linh Rice" brand logo to sell their products. To date, the "Tanh Linh Rice" brand has been used by two units in the district, packaging 200 tons of organic rice for market consumption.

Maintain and upgrade the ranking of products that have already been recognized under the OCOP program.

According to the plan for implementing the OCOP program in Tanh Linh district in 2023, the leaders of the Tanh Linh District People's Committee stated that from now until the end of the year, the locality will continue to maintain and upgrade the recognized products. Simultaneously, they will focus on developing key products, strengths, and products with distinctive cultural values of the locality. One of the district's goals is to strive for at least 5-6 more products to be recognized with 3 stars or higher as OCOP products. They will also re-evaluate 1-2 products whose OCOP recognition has expired. Furthermore, they will support businesses in completing their applications to list their products on e-commerce platforms and in retail systems such as Postmart, Voso, Co.opmart, BigC, LotteMart, etc.

Point for introducing and selling OCOP products.

To achieve this, one of the solutions proposed by the locality is to encourage and support the development of gift and souvenir packages featuring OCOP products linked to the district's history and culture. This includes, in particular, regional specialties and tourism services based on the strengths and advantages of natural conditions, raw materials, knowledge, and local culture. More than anything, to bring OCOP products further into the market, the businesses involved need to proactively develop production, business, and product development plans. Emphasis should be placed on promoting the application of advanced science and technology in production, improving product quality, branding, and design, and building brand recognition to help OCOP products reach a wider market.
