Reuters quoted police officer Salve as saying the explosion occurred at around 8:30 a.m. (Indian local time) at the explosives plant of Solar Industries India. The plant specializes in manufacturing industrial and military explosives, including propellant for rockets and warheads.

Mr. Salve said that nine workers were killed and several others were injured. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment, but the death toll could rise.
Police have arrived at the scene of the explosion and are investigating the cause. Preliminary information suggests the explosion occurred in the factory's packaging area.
Ashish Shrivastav, a senior manager at Solar Industries, also stated that the accident occurred at a location where explosives used in coal mining were being packaged.
India's ANI news agency quoted officials as saying that a total of 12 workers were at the site when the explosion occurred, killing 9 (including 6 women) and injuring the remaining 3.
The Maharashtra state government has paid 500,000 rupees (approximately 146 million VND) to the family of each deceased victim.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of the central Indian state expressed his condolences to the victims and instructed authorities to provide timely and appropriate treatment to the injured.
