AS reports that Barcelona's board hope that a transfer of Fermin Lopez could help improve the club's finances, which are in a state of emergency. However, the idea has been met with opposition from coach Hansi Flick, who sees Lopez as an important factor at Camp Nou this season.
At a press conference before the match against Levante last weekend, coach Flick strongly affirmed: "I want Fermin and Marc Casado to stay. The season is long and very difficult, I need all the players."
Despite Casado getting his chance to play, Lopez did not play a single minute in the 3-2 win over Levante, leaving fans even more worried about the Spanish midfielder's future.
Chelsea are stepping up negotiations to sign Lopez from Barcelona. The Blues are expected to make an offer of around 50 million euros. This figure would be a significant boost to Barcelona's budget. However, the Camp Nou team has stated that they will not sell Lopez for less than 70 million euros.
According to AS , Barcelona know that Chelsea have strong financial capacity, having spent nearly 280 million euros on a series of new players this summer.
In the 2024/25 season, Lopez played 46 matches in all competitions and scored 8 goals for Barcelona.
In addition to Lopez, Chelsea is also interested in MU's Alejandro Garnacho. "The Blues" are offering around 35-40 million euros for the Argentine midfielder.
