1. There was an unforgettable period of literary life a few decades ago for many older readers. It was the feeling of waiting for each literary work to be published, from Russian literature such as: Quiet Flows the Don, War and Peace , How the Steel Was Tempered... to French literature such as: Notre Dame Cathedral, Les Miserables... or works that left a deep mark on Vietnamese literature such as Echoes of the Past, Overcoming Con Dao...
There are readers who are willing to squeeze their limited spending to buy books. Books at that time were no different from soul mates, a luxurious, indispensable spiritual food. Many works became “bedside books”, giving wings to dreams, thoughts, and orientations about life.
In the 2000s, with works that created global publishing phenomena such as Harry Potter, The Tibetan Code... readers still had to wait to own the next volumes.
But nowadays, with the strong development of many aspects of the economy and society, people rarely have to wait for books to be "released". Books, stories, novels are displayed on shelves, with beautiful paper and eye-catching covers, like delicious dishes prepared on the banquet table. Unfortunately, not everyone is eager to "touch their chopsticks".

It is worth mentioning that, in the face of the irresistible “attraction” of technological devices, young readers and younger readers are increasingly moving away from books. The silence with this silent “friend” seems too boring compared to the colorful, constantly moving images on TV screens, tablets or attractive games that are constantly updated.
Some families, realizing the great value of books, encourage their children to read with rules such as: reading books is rewarded with more time playing games, watching YouTube, or even with a sum of money. But this way of encouraging reading also raises some concerns about “bargaining” with knowledge, when children’s motivation to come to books does not start from proactive love and appreciation.
2. The highlight of the program introducing authors and works recently organized by the Provincial Literature and Arts Association at Phan Boi Chau High School (Pleiku City) was the sincere and open exchange between 11 authors and many students from high schools in the city. This is an opportunity to "bring closer" authors, works and young readers, helping them expand their knowledge of literature and art in the land where they live.
In particular, the opening speech of Meritorious Artist Dang Cong Hung - Vice Chairman in charge of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association evoked many thoughts. He commented: In the current digital age, when images and sounds can be created by algorithms, literature is still a sacred and irreplaceable land.
Because only there, genuine emotions, personal experiences and the depth of human thought are truly alive, unprogrammable, uncopyable.

“When you read a book, read it with all your heart. Because in it are the sweat, the tears, the desire to live and love of experienced people. Read to see yourself, to understand others, to live more humanely.
Not everyone who reads books becomes a writer, but anyone who knows how to read properly will become a deeper person, freer in thinking and more sincere in love.
We can be good at science and technology, but if we lack the ability to appreciate beauty, compassion and depth of soul, we are not truly complete human beings. Literature teaches us to feel. Feel before understanding, feel to know how to live kindly and love this life" - Vice President in charge of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association conveyed extremely profound thoughts.
From that perspective, Meritorious Artist Dang Cong Hung affirmed: The Provincial Literature and Arts Association is committed to continuing to accompany authors, schools and the young generation so that literature does not only exist on the bookshelves but also comes alive in every thought, every action, every dream of young people.
Knowledge from books is no longer limited to pages of paper. To meet the needs of young readers who love convenience, e-books and audiobooks have been born. Reading culture is developing in many different ways, providing a variety of choices for readers to experience, gain knowledge, broaden their thinking and cultivate emotions.
The important thing is to say something so that the love of books permeates the minds of the young generation, like the gradual permeation of water into the soil, naturally, without force, becoming a conscious inheritance of a useful habit. And perhaps more important than any words, parents should sit down and choose a good book to read with their children every night. That is the warmest way to accompany them.
