Fear of transferring money to the wrong person

A mistake in copying account information can lead to a wrong transfer. Solving the problem of wrong transfers is a top priority when making digital payments.

On a weekend afternoon, at a familiar coffee shop on Ly Thuong Kiet Street ( Hanoi ), Bao Huyen - a 25-year-old marketing employee - took the opportunity to complete a small order before going home. Just a few minutes after receiving the information, she transferred money to her partner in just 3 simple steps right in the Zalo chat box without having to switch between multiple applications.

“Now I just need to click on the sent account information, everything is automatically transferred to my banking app. Transferring money has never been so fast,” Huyen shared.

Zalo supports money transfer right in the chat box, avoiding mistakes when copying account information.

Before, every time she transferred money, Bao Huyen always felt it was a lot of work. Sometimes, just a few more steps made her feel like she didn't want to continue, especially when she was busy.

"Just imagine when I'm concentrating on my work, my colleague sends me an account number to transfer money for lunch. I have to open my phone, open the bank app, carefully copy and paste the account number, select the correct bank name, then go back to the message screen to check if the recipient's name is correct. Just a small transaction takes so many steps, it's very annoying," Bao Huyen shared.

The story doesn’t stop at transferring money to colleagues. Transferring money to her parents in the countryside, or paying a handmade shop she just found, the process is the same. The risk of error is always lurking: copying the wrong number, choosing the wrong bank, or worse, sending to a complete stranger. For a multitasker like Bao Huyen, this annoyance is repeated every day.

“The scariest thing is transferring money to a stranger. If you’re in a hurry and make a mistake or miss a copy, you don’t know how to get it back, no matter how big or small the amount is. Sometimes the procedure takes time,” Bao Huyen lamented.

Bao Huyen's dilemma was resolved when recently, while shopping online via Zalo, she discovered a new feature. When the seller sent account information via Zalo message, instead of a line of numbers as usual, the account information suddenly appeared as a neat "business card", with the bank logo and the recipient's name.

When she clicked on the business card that appeared on the screen, the banking application on her phone immediately opened, and the money transfer screen was right in front of her. The account number, bank name, and account holder name were all filled in correctly. The only thing Bao Huyen needed to do was enter the amount and confirm the transaction.

"At that time, I was really surprised. The whole process of copying - pasting, checking information that was cumbersome before disappeared. Just one touch on Zalo, everything was ready. It saved me not only time but also concentration", Bao Huyen shared.

Bao Huyen's story is not unique. In small offices, online stores, or groups of close friends who often "pool money" to eat together, chat tools and familiar banking applications have become part of life. And when everything - from work discussions to money transfers - happens right in the chat box, the distance between "talking" and "paying" becomes shorter than ever.

Previously, online money transfers often required users to perform many manual steps, which were prone to errors and time-consuming. From remembering or copying account information, opening a banking application, manually entering data, to re-checking recipient information... each step had potential risks.

Online transfers often require users to perform many manual steps.

However, with smart account information recognition technology, users now only need one touch. The system automatically turns the information into a "business card" with the bank logo. Just tap, the screen immediately switches to the user's official banking application, with pre-filled account information.

According to the State Bank, by the end of 2024, the total value of non-cash payments had reached VND295 trillion , with 17.7 billion transactions, marking an impressive growth rate of up to 30-40% per year. By the end of the first quarter of 2025, non-cash transactions in Vietnam increased by 44.43% over the same period last year. This increase reflects the strong trend of transition to the digital economy , especially in the context of more and more people and businesses accessing and using electronic payment methods.

In that context, the money transfer feature in this chat box of Zalo has become a powerful tool for many people thanks to saving time, ensuring safety, and reducing errors. Simplifying the money transfer process not only creates convenience for individuals but also opens up a new look for the way Vietnamese people interact financially in the digital environment. When sending and receiving money becomes as seamless as a conversation, payment is no longer a separate operation, but is integrated into daily life. Especially for the elderly or small traders and shop owners who are not familiar with technology, not having to re-type the account number or verify the bank name from the beginning is a liberating change. They do not need to become digital experts to be able to make safe and accurate transactions.

The combination of Zalo and banks has created a complete digital payment ecosystem, where all personal and small business financial needs can be handled smoothly with just a few steps. By turning a familiar but annoying task into a simple and seamless one, Zalo not only demonstrates its deep understanding of user behavior, but also affirms its pioneering role in accompanying the Government in realizing the national goal of a cashless society.

In a broader sense, the development of the in-chat transfer feature is an important piece in the larger picture of a fully digitalized society. As every financial transaction becomes simpler, safer and more accessible, technological barriers will gradually be removed, helping to accelerate the popularization of cashless payments across the country. This is not just a story about a useful feature, but also a testament to how technology is truly touching and improving the lives of individuals and businesses, contributing to creating a promising digital future for Vietnam.
