Nong Cong establishes a rice purchasing network directly from the fields. People in Hoang Giang commune (Nong Cong district) are harvesting the 2024 spring rice crop.

On 15.5 hectares of land acquired through purchase, exchange, and lease from households lacking the means to cultivate, Mr. Nguyen Ba Chung, from Thanh Son village, Trung Chinh commune, has partnered with a business to grow rice. His family's production has been quite successful, with Hong Quang Agricultural Materials Co., Ltd. (Ninh Binh) purchasing the rice directly from the fields. Mr. Chung stated: "This spring crop, my family planted rice varieties such as Huong Binh, DQ 11, QR1, and Nep Huong. During the production process, the company provided seeds, agricultural supplies, and transferred cultivation techniques. At this point, the rice has been harvested, yielding 80 quintals/hectare, and the purchase price was 920,000 VND/quintal, an increase of 70,000 VND/quintal compared to the 2023 spring crop." Thanks to a good harvest and favorable prices, after deducting expenses, his family earned over 386 million VND, an increase of nearly 90 million VND compared to previous seasons. Mr. Chung believes that the company's partnership in purchasing rice directly from the fields has brought many benefits to his family. Besides not having to hire laborers for transportation, drying, and storage, it also provides a stable income with a reliable market outlet.

This year's spring crop saw Mr. Ha Huu Thong's family in Tien Chau village, Minh Nghia commune, cultivate 4 hectares of rice varieties including Nep Huong, Thai Xuyen 111, and J03. The entire harvested rice crop was purchased directly from the field by Cuc Phuong Co., Ltd. ( Ninh Binh ). Compared to previous years, both yield and selling price were higher. On average, 1 hectare of rice yielded 80 quintals/hectare, with the company purchasing it at 720,000 VND/quintal, bringing the family nearly 70 million VND in income. Payment for the rice was made by the company within 10-15 days at the latest. Throughout Nong Cong district, thousands of households participate in this linkage program through cooperatives acting as intermediaries, selling their rice directly from the fields to businesses.

Along with land consolidation and mechanization in production, Nong Cong district has strengthened linkages with businesses inside and outside the province in production and product distribution. To date, the district has attracted 6 businesses and 10 cooperatives to participate in linking and distributing rice directly from farmers in the communes, covering an area of 3,600 hectares out of 10,319 hectares of rice land. Many businesses have formed large-scale production chains, from supplying seeds and fertilizers to providing technical guidance and distributing the entire crop, such as Hong Quang Agricultural Materials Co., Ltd., Cuc Phuong Co., Ltd., and Duy Nguyen Co., Ltd.

Mr. Le Ngoc Thang, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Nong Cong District, stated: "The fact that businesses are linking up with and guaranteeing the purchase of products from farmers right in the fields not only fosters farming habits in line with modern agricultural trends, but also brings many benefits to farmers, such as saving on transportation, drying, and post-harvest rice storage costs. In particular, it fundamentally solves the problem of 'bumper harvest, low prices' and generates higher income compared to areas where production is not linked up or guaranteed for purchase right in the fields."
