Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union delivered the opening speech.

The August Revolution of 1945 was successful, with the core being struggles and uprisings to seize power with the participation of farmers taking place in many places, creating a premise for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) to officially gain independence on September 2, 1945, with the Declaration of Independence by the great President Ho Chi Minh - "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom".

Right after our country gained independence, on April 11, 1946, in "Letter to Vietnamese Landlords and Farmers", Uncle Ho emphasized: "Vietnam is an agricultural country. Our economy is based on agriculture... If farmers are rich, our country is rich. If our agriculture is prosperous, our country is prosperous"...

Imbued with Uncle Ho's message, over the past 80 years, the Vietnamese peasant class has been attached to and accompanied every ups and downs of the country's history. During the resistance wars, farmers were not only soldiers who fought directly with guns but also a solid rear base, providing food and provisions, contributing human and material resources to the front line. When peace was restored, Vietnamese farmers again worked hard to build the socialist Fatherland.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association emphasized: "The August Revolution and National Day September 2 are important milestones of the country, reminding us of the years of arduous but proud struggle, the heroic fight, and the blood sacrifice of our army and people to gain independence for the Fatherland and freedom for the People. And throughout those years, the Vietnamese peasant class has always been the vanguard force, ready to join the whole country in writing heroic and glorious pages of history for the nation".

At the seminar "8 decades of farmers accompanying the country", Professor Pham Hong Tung - former Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences (Hanoi National University) shared that after the August Revolution, our nation went through 9 years of long resistance against the French and 21 years of resistance against the US, farmers always contributed blood, bones and efforts to unify the country, bringing peace today.

"Looking back at the country's history, we are in debt and still owe a lot to farmers. Up to now, we have not completely solved the problem for farmers," said Professor Pham Hong Tung.

Agricultural expert Hoang Trong Thuy acknowledged that in 80 years, farmers have become pioneers, accumulating the energy of liberation, revival and development. Each successful crop season makes the Country and the Fatherland grow.

Agricultural expert Hoang Trong Thuy shared that, entering the new era, farmers need 3B - "Friends, Discussion, Sales". The word "Friends" means that farmers need to cooperate, join hands to form cooperatives, communities to develop together; need to be "friends" with scientists, entrepreneurs, and policy experts.

The word "Discuss" means that farmers need to "discuss" policies, import and export... need to focus on agricultural products to increase the value of regional agricultural products.

As for the word "Sell", it means that farmers need to sell agricultural products to increase income, thereby becoming rich sustainably. I wish farmers to go from winning crops to winning contracts," expert Hoang Trong Thuy shared more.

Literature PhD Nguyen Si Dai, former Vice President of the Hanoi Writers Association, said that we can compare farmers to anything great. In the context of the country in danger, the story of Saint Giong from a village boy to a national hero is a strong message. And it shows that true heroes, those who can shoulder the mission of saving the country, can be found right in the fields.

The contribution of farmers is not only sacrifice and "bloodshed", but also the production of invaluable spiritual values.

In the celebration of the 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025): 8 decades of farmers accompanying the country, Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet Newspaper organized the award ceremony for the writing contest: "Vietnam in me".

According to the Organizing Committee of the contest, after nearly 2 months of launching, the contest has received more than 1,124 entries from all over the country, from the mountainous Northwest, the sunny and windy Central region to the fertile Mekong Delta, including overseas Vietnamese living in Europe, America, foreigners living in Vietnam...

Not only is the contest diverse in geography, it also recognizes the diversity in age and occupation of the participants. The oldest person to submit an entry is reader Nguyen Tien Binh (85 years old, Hanoi). The youngest is Nguyen Bao Minh Chau (class 8A2, Tay Son Secondary School, Hanoi).
