Coach Phan Nhu Thuat's decision was made one day after a 2-3 defeat to the HCM City Police Club. At Vinh Stadium, SLNA led 2-0 but played poorly and eventually lost. This was the "last straw" that led to coach Phan Nhu Thuat's resignation.
Coach Phan Nhu Thuat resigned after only 5 rounds of V-League.
