Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long passed away at the age of 48.

The Vietnam Puppet Theatre has just announced that Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long (who served as deputy director) passed away on May 11th.

The sudden passing of Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long is a great loss to the collective of artists, staff, and workers of the Vietnam Puppet Theatre, as well as to all those who love the art of Vietnamese puppetry.

According to a post on the theater's homepage, throughout his career, Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long has always been a dedicated and responsible artist, devoteing much of his passion to traditional art and the development of the institution. He left a beautiful impression on his colleagues, audiences, and many generations of young artists because of his sincerity, simplicity, and wholehearted dedication to his profession.

"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long and all his relatives and colleagues. We respectfully bid farewell to him," the Vietnam Puppet Theatre shared.

Many friends, colleagues, and audience members were shocked by the passing of Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long. One account expressed: "Deeply saddened by his passing, a talented artist." According to information from the theater, the memorial service for the artist will begin at 1:30 PM on May 12th at the Funeral Home of Military Hospital 103. Afterwards, the remains of Meritorious Artist Nguyen The Long will be cremated at the Van Dien Crematorium ( Hanoi ). The family will hold a memorial service in his hometown of Hung Yen (formerly Thai Binh) at 8:00 AM on May 13th. Following this, the artist will be buried at Ky Ba Cemetery (new Hung Yen).
