Nui Thanh District is prioritizing the efficient use of resources, focusing on resolving land clearance issues, and accelerating the implementation of key projects such as Quang Trung Road, Tam Giang Bridge, Tam Tien Bridge, and access roads...
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Project Management Board of Nui Thanh District, the Tam Giang bridge project was approved by the Nui Thanh District People's Committee with a total investment of over 151 billion VND. The bridge is 210.5m long, including 4 pillars, 2 abutments, 5 spans, and approach roads at both ends totaling 469.5m.
The project was invested in with the goal of completing infrastructure to meet the requirements of socio-economic development. Construction started in April 2017 with a phased approach of simultaneous construction and land clearance. Due to numerous obstacles in land clearance, the construction process was interrupted.
To date, the bridge section is basically complete, with only the bridge deck paving and lighting installation remaining. The 100m long approach road on the Nui Thanh town side has had its weak soil foundation treated and is currently being unloaded to allow for roadbed construction.
The 369m section of the approach road on the Tam Giang commune side has undergone soil stabilization and is currently being unloaded and the roadbed construction is underway. Through numerous efforts, the Tam Giang bridge project has completed land clearance and handed over a clean site to the contractor for construction from November 2024.
"The construction contractor has mobilized machinery and equipment, accelerating the construction of the project, and it is expected to be completed, handed over, and put into use this year," Mr. Thanh said.
The Quang Trung road project is located in the center of Nui Thanh town, with a length of 743.48m, starting at Tam Giang bridge and ending at its intersection with National Highway 1.
The project's design drawings and cost estimate were approved by the People's Committee of Nui Thanh District on July 21, 2016, with an estimated value of over 68.7 billion VND. Currently, the contractor is carrying out construction but is facing land clearance issues. According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, land clearance for the project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025, and construction will be accelerated to completion within 2025.
The Tam Tien Bridge and access road project was approved by the Provincial People's Committee on May 30, 2019, with a total investment of 220 billion VND and a total length of 4.18 km.
Construction began in December 2020, but due to numerous difficulties in land clearance, the construction process has dragged on for many years. According to the Nuoi Thanh District Project Management Board, land clearance for the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, and construction is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
Implementing breakthrough tasks
According to Mr. Nguyen Tri An, Secretary of the Nui Thanh District Party Committee, in implementing Conclusion No. 29, dated May 4, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of breakthrough tasks, Nui Thanh district focuses on building a synchronous infrastructure system and urban development. Infrastructure has received strong investment from the central, provincial, and district budgets.
The transportation system in Nui Thanh is quite well-developed, including expressways, National Highway 1, Vo Chi Cong Road, Ky Ha Port, Chu Lai - Truong Hai Port, Chu Lai Airport, and various provincial, district, and highway routes.
Transportation links Nui Thanh to the rest of the country, province, and region, reaching all residential areas and facilitating urban development. As a result, trade, services, and industry have developed diversely and strongly, meeting the production and living needs of the people.
Nui Thanh urban area is identified as the regional center of southern Quang Nam province as well as the Central Vietnam Key Economic Zone. The provincial regional planning identifies Nui Thanh urban area as part of Cluster 3, promoting economic development in the southern Quang Nam corridor; serving as a commercial, service, and financial center for the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and oriented towards development according to Type II urban standards.

Mr. Le Van Sinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nui Thanh District, believes that the urban development of Nui Thanh must ensure modernity, sustainability, and be closely linked to green and ecological urban development.
To link infrastructure investment with urban development, Nui Thanh prioritizes the completion of the Vo Chi Cong road connecting to Chu Lai airport, ensuring inter-regional connectivity along the coastal areas of Da Nang - Quang Nam - Quang Ngai, and the coastal ring road.
The district is constructing transverse roads connecting the expressway and National Highway 1 with Vo Chi Cong Road, bridges over the Truong Giang River to Road 613B, and a transportation system connecting various functional areas. The DT617 route connecting Nui Thanh and Bac Tra My has been completed; and Chu Lai seaport has been upgraded to a national seaport according to the plan.
The local authorities proposed investing in a new waterway at Cửa Lở for 50,000-ton vessels; constructing new ports at Tam Hòa and Tam Giang to serve port logistics and supply chain services; dredging rivers to ensure flood control, prevent natural disasters, and improve the environment; and developing riverside tourism routes and riverside urban areas.
